Currently Playing for the Gals graphic

Another week flown by and in my part of the world, Autumn is well-and-truly here.  It’s getting colder, the leaves are turning and the nights are drawing in – but on the plus side, the gingerbread lattes are back on the menu and that’s never a bad thing!

Here’s what the Gals are listening to this week.

  1. This past week I listened to Salt Magic, Skin Magic by Lee Welch, narrated by Joel Leslie. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the narration. Next up was Red Dirt Heart 3 by N.R. Walker, also narrated by Joel Leslie. (I’m seeing a trend…) I’ve loved this entire series, and this might be my favorite so far. Joel Leslie does a wonderful job with the narration. I have RDH 4 checked out on Hoopla to listen to this week. I know this is a series I will want to listen to again, so I will look for these books on sale in the future.

Right now I’m listening to American Dreamer by Adriana Herrera, narrated by Sean Crisden. I’m really enjoying the story and the narration is quite good with just a few minor quibbles.

Besides RDH 4, I have Sailor Proof by Annabeth Albert ready to go this week.

    1. Heh – on the Joel Train! He’s just so good! I think you mentioned the RDH series before – I wish I had a library service like yours! Last I looked, mine had a grand total of… er… one? Queer romance – it was KJC and the last in a 3 book series, no sign of the other 2, and it was print, not audio.

I haven’t actually listened to American Dreamer – I have it in my library and will get to it some day! I liked books 2 and 3 in the series as well (I think I reviewed American Fairytale here).

      1. I’ve read your review of American Fairytale and I’ve put that one on my “for later” shelf at the library. I’m not 100% sure I’ll go on to 3 or 4. The plots don’t interest me as much at the moment.

I wish you had a good library like mine, too. I’m very fortunate. The surrounding counties don’t have the romance offering that we have here. I have friends in neighboring counties who pay to have a card for here because the library system is better. They just built a new Main Library in town with recording studios, makers spaces, 3-D printers and more. Durham is often looked on as the “poor cousin” of the area (even with Duke University here), which makes its continued commitment to its library system a rare and precious thing. Plus it’s obvious someone in a position that matters likes romance books!

I’m listening to Sailor Proof right now and loving the narrators (more Joel, with Greg Boudreaux! How great is that?) but it’s not wowing me. I’m glad it’s on I could get from the library.

        1. Yes, the narration on SP is awesome – the story is cute, it’s very well done and I enjoyed it, but it’s not one of my favourites.
