Our March 2019 Picks

Our regular look at what makes us do [grabby hands] towards the audiobooks releasing this month! It’s a blend of various Romance sub-genres and other fiction, with some favorite authors and narrators as well as some new-to-us!

The Leopard King by Ann AguirreThe Leopard King by Ann Aguirre

Narrated by Wilhelmina Grace

The entire trilogy (The Leopard King, The Demon Prince, The Wolf Lord) are all out on the same day. I have them all on my giant TBR but haven’t managed to get to them yet. My TBL is shorter so I’m going to start with The Leopard King and see what I think of this new-to-me narrator.  – Kaetrin

Ain't He Precious by Sawyer BennettSex and Sweet Tea Series by Sawyer Bennett (Writing as Juliette Poe)

Narrated by Samantha Summers, Alexander Cendese, Lance Greenfield and others.

The first 4 books in this series are being released in March. I’ve enjoyed many of Ms. Bennett’s prior books, especially her sports themed romance series, Cold Fury Hockey.  I believe the pseudonym Juliette Poe is for her “sweeter” romance, though on Audible she also listed her much better recognized author name of Sawyer Bennett. I’m curious to see how she tackles a sweet small town, comical romance themed series, though I will note that each book does appear to be quite short which sometimes makes it difficult to flush out a full storyline (books 1-4 range from 4 to 7 hours a piece).BJ

Band Sinister by KJ CharlesBand Sinister by KJ Charles

Narrated by Cornell Collins

This was one of my favourite books of last year, a sexy, warm, witty trope-fest and homage to the great Georgette Heyer in which a shy country gentleman meets a notoriously debauched lord and his free-thinking friends and… has his horizons expanded considerably. (And no, not just in a naughty way!) I don’t mind admitting I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw Cornell Collins had signed up to narrate this one; he’s done terrific work in many of the author’s other titles, and I’m really looking forward to listening to this. – Caz

This one was also on my best of list for 2018 so I’m looking forward to the audio. – Kaetrin

Best of Luck by Kate ClaybornBest of Luck by Kate Clayborn

Narrated by Will Damron and Carly Robins

I’m reliably informed that this is the best book of the Chance of a Lifetime trilogy about three friends who win the lottery.  This story sees the return of Alex, brother of the heroine of book one (Beginner’s Luck), a globetrotting photographer who ends up helping Greer with the assignments for her photography class. I haven’t listened to the middle book  yet, but Carly Robins and Will Damron were excellent in the first, so I’ve no doubt I’m in for a really good listen with this one. – Caz

Having enjoyed the previous two books on audio I’m in for the final one of the trilogy and I’m so curious about what makes Greer tick! – Kaetrin

The Woman in the Lake by Nicola CornickThe Woman in the Lake by Nicola Cornick

Narrated by Malk Williams, Charlie Sanderson, Rebecca Courtney, Imogen Church

This is one I pre-ordered because the blurb sounded so intriguing. It’s a dual timeline story in the vein of Susanna Kearsley and the narration sample sounded great. – Kaetrin

Surrender of a Siren by Tessa DareSurrender of a Siren by Tessa Dare

Narrated by Gabrielle Baker

I’m pleased to see some of Tessa Dare’s older titles coming to audio – I haven’t read them yet and audio is my preferred method of catching up, so yay! I’m not familiar with Gabrielle Baker’s work (and think it’s a bit of a shame not to have used Mary Jane Wells, who is doing such great work with Ms. Dare’s current series), but I’m hoping for good things. – Caz

I’m a fan of some of Tessa Dare’s prior romances (though I must admit that narrator, Gabrielle Baker is new to me).  So I’m happy to hear that some of Ms. Dare’s backlist titles are being released in audio format.   – BJ

What the Wind Knows by Amy HarmonWhat the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon

Narrated by Saskia Maarleveld and Will Damron

Amy Harmon’s writing, great narrators narrating and a time travel romance storyline Outlander style but taking place in Ireland in the 1920s – I can’t wait! – BJ

Amy Harmon has written a time travel romance, and it’s every bit as stunning as I’ve come to expect from this author. Saskia Maarleveld and Will Damron are both skilled narrators who do a great job bringing this multi-faceted book to life. And, if you’re thinking I’ve already devoured this one, you’d be right. – Shannon

The Last Year of the War by Susan MeissnerThe Last Year of the War by Susan Meissner

Narrated by Kimberley Farr

I’ve become a big fan of Susan Meissner’s fascinating and insightful novels of historical fiction over the past few years, so I’m super excited to get my hands on her latest offering. The Last Year of the War is the story of two best friends torn apart by the horrors of the second world war. I’ve listened to Kimberley Farr in the past and was pleased with her performances, so I’m hoping for good things here. – Shannon

The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly RimmerThe Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer

Narrated by Ann Marie Gideon and Nancy Peterson

I’m unfamiliar with both the author and the narrators of The Things We Cannot Say, but I’ve heard fabulous things about Kelly Rimmer’s writing. Plus, this is set during World War II, which is one of my favorite historical periods to read about. Needless to say, I’m intrigued! – Shannon

Silent Night by Danielle SteelSilent Night by Danielle Steele

Narrated by Jim Frangione

All these years later, and I still enjoy picking up a Danielle Steel book from time to time. This Women’s Fiction title grabbed my attention both by it’s blurb and the fact that it’s being narrated by Jim Frangione.BJ
