Our October 2023 Picks

We’ve got a good selection of new and upcoming audiobooks for you to look through this month – a mix of favourite genres, authors, and  narrators, so hopefully something for everyone!  As always, we love hearing from YOU about which new audiobooks you’re most looking forward to listening to – maybe we’ve missed out on something really good, so do drop by and tell us.

A Fault Against the Dead by Gregory Ashe

Narrated by J.F. Harding

It’s been quite a while since The Fairest Show came out in audio, but this final instalment of The First Quarto is worth the wait!  Theo and Auggie are up to their necks in trouble as usual, while also trying to navigate their turbulent  relationship (they never seem to get a break, do they?)  J.F. Harding’s narration has been a real highlight of the series, the perfect complement to the author’s words, and I can’t wait to get stuck into this one. – Caz

Too Good to Be True by Kristen Ashley

Narrated by Stella Bloom

Out for Halloween, this ghostly romance set in England promises to be fun. – Kaetrin

I’m Your Guy by Sarina Bowen

Narrated by Jacob Morgan & Teddy Hamilton

Definitely interested with this narration team at the helm. – Carrie

I enjoyed listening to The New Guy a few months back, and there was a glimpse of this couple at the end – one of the Bruisers players and his interior designer!  #Jeddy is m/m narrating royalty, and they’re bound to be great. – Caz

I have pre-ordered this one! – Kaetrin

A Market of Dreams and Destiny by Trip Galey

Narrated by Will Watt

I’m not familiar with this author at all, but my eye was caught by the blurb for this “high-stakes magical adventure across a London not quite like our own” where “fate and fortunes are for sale”.  I like to take a punt on something completely different sometimes, and reviews of the book are generally positive, so I’ll be giving it a try.  Plus, I know the narration will be good, which is always an added incentive. – Caz

Wildfire by Hannah Grace

Narrated by Teddy Hamilton & Lauren Sweet

I’ve heard such great things about this author. I have her first book on both the TBR and TBL as well. Plus: Teddy! – Kaetrin

10 Things that Never Happened by Alexis Hall

Narrated by Will Watt

I’m hoping for a return of the Boyfriend Material magic with this one. Fingers crossed! – Carrie

This first in a new series from Alexis Hall is a grumpy/sunshine romance with a lot of heart and humour.  Will Watt is a fabulous voice actor and I’m really excited for this one. – Caz

Big Witch Energy by Molly Harper

Narrated by Amanda Ronconi & Teddy Hamilton

I’m a huge fan of Molly Harper audiobooks and this one is included in the Audible Plus catalogue for extra bonus points. – Kaetrin

Flat Whites and Chocolate Fish by Jay Hogan

Narrated by Gary Furlong

I loved this in print and look forward to listening to Gary Furlong’s narration. – Carrie

Returning to the Southern Alps for the third book in the Southern Lights series, we catch up with mysterious barista Adrian as he meets his match in a sexy, antagonists-to-lovers romance.  The author’s trademark mix of heartfelt emotion, humour and snarkiness combined with the awesomeness of Gary Furlong means this is bound to be a great listen. – Caz

The Graham Effect by Elle Kennedy

Narrated by Teddy Hamilton & CJ Bloom

Garrett Graham’s daughter! Next generation Off Campus! Huzzah! – Kaetrin

It’s a Date (Again) by Jeneva Rose

Narrated by January LaVoy

January LaVoy is a fabulous narrator and the blurb, about a girl who gets amnesia and can’t remember which of three men she’s in love with, seems like a lot of fun. – Kaetrin

Snowed in for Christmas by Jacqueline Snowe

Narrated by Hannah Church & Liam Lambert

Grumpy/sunshine in a snowpocalypse – sounds fun. – Kaetrin

  1. I seem to have been checking Audible forever to see if ‘A Fault Against the Dead’ has been released! Do you have a date for it, Caz?

I’m really looking forward to getting ’10 Things that Never Happened’ tomorrow and am pleased to hear that you recommend the narrator, as I’m so fussy.

I’ve read ‘I’m Your Guy’ and really enjoyed it, but doubt that I’ll get the audio as I’m so fed up with dual narrations. Although those are two great narrators, who have narrated books together that I have loved in the past, so who knows!

    1. GA said he’d approved Fault a couple of weeks ago, do it should be up soon!

Full disclosure – I haven’t reviewed Will Watt before but I’ve worked on a few of his narrations (as a proofer) and he’s terrific – I was really pleased when I saw his name on the Hall audio.
