  1. So far in 2023 I’ve only listened to books I’ve either listened to or read before. I just finished the audio of The Kite by N.R. Walker and enjoyed it. Glen Lloyd did a great job, although his voice for the MC’s got a little “sweet” at times after they started really caring about each other. It didn’t help that I’d just finished listening to Dear Milton James and Dear Malachi Keogh which he also narrated, so their voices were hard to turn off in my head for a while. Otherwise he nails the grumpy/sunshine vibe with Harry being gruff and hotheaded and Asher being more teasing and talkative.

I’m cueing up to relisten to Murder and Mayhem by Rhys Ford, narrated by Greg Tremblay. I don’t know if I’m trying to put off accepting that it’s 2013, or just not in the mood for surprises right now. :-) 2023 started with us running our dog to the emergency vet for what appears to be exposure to an unknown toxin (mushroom?). She’s fine now, but in her 19 mos of existence, this is her 4th trip to the emergency vet, and that doesn’t count her broken toe las spring. In the previous 20 years we’d taken our multiple dogs to an emergency vet exactly twice. She’s an adorable (and expensive) menace!
