  1. This week I listened to N.R. Walker’s Spencer Cohen series, narrated by Joel Leslie. The first three books are really one long story about how Spencer and Andrew meet, and how they navigate being a couple. Both have baggage and learning to be in a healthy relationship isn’t easy. I liked the first and second book slightly more than the third, but there were some great and emotional moments there, as well. I’ve got the fourth in the series, Yanni’s Story, checked out from Hoopla nd will get to that soon. It involves an interesting side character from the series.

Right now I’m taking a break from the series and relistening to Galaxies and Oceans, also by NR Walker and narrated by Joel. It’s been on my mind the last few weeks and I wanted to revisit it.

    1. Just wanted to note that I don’t know many narrators that get emotions across as well as Joel Leslie does. The way he uses his voice to convey fear, sorrow, longing, joy, etc., continually amazes and delights me.

    2. I… don’t get on with the accent in those – I generally read NRW’s Australia-set novels

      1. Ah. I see. Well, I guess ignorance is bliss here! :-) The Spencer Cohen books are set in LA, USA, but the main character is an Aussie, so that might not help much. :-) I do understand, though, because I have a problem with most narrators trying for an American southern accent. They all seem to think a southern accent equals a deep south Georgia accent. North Carolina doesn’t sound like Georgia, and Texas has it’s own sound: southern/western drawl.

  2. I’m close to finishing “A Lady for a Duke” by Alexis Hall, a lovely emotional romance set in the style of a Regency, featuring a trans heroine (and apparently narrated by a trans woman as well, which I didn’t pick up on at first). I’m finding it to be a very sensitive and sweet portrayal of not only a love story but the journey of both the h/h to better understanding their own inner selves and lives. And of course, there is also some snappy dialogue and witty repartee to be had, since it’s Alexis Hall.

    1. I loved the book of ‘A Lady for a Duke’ but, sadly, I couldn’t get on with the audiobook at all, mainly because of how Lady Marleigh, Viola’s sister-in law, was voiced. It might have worked better for me if I’d listened before reading…………..

  3. Dead Serious looks interesting, but I’ll probably read it as it’s likely to have a range of current London accents………………………..

I’ve finally listened to the whole of Gregory Ashe’s ‘The Lion and the Lamb’ series, narrated by JF Harding. This is my favourite of GA’s series and Jem and Tean are my favourite of his couples. The narration is superb – JF Harding is such a good fit for Gregory Ashe’s books. Anyway, I had a wonderful time revisiting these books and managed to sort out a plot point in the second book that had been bugging me!

I then moved onto ‘Firestorm’, the third in Rachel Grant’s Flashpoint series, narrated by Greg Tremblay. I really like this series and am very much enjoying listening to this one but, I abandoned Savvy and Cal in a very precarious situation in the Congo, with an hour of the story still to go!!!!

I did that so I could do a combined read and listen of Alexis Hall’s ‘Husband Material’ on its release day. Joe Jameson’s narration is wonderful. All the old gang are there, plus some new ones – we meet Jonathan, who is a MC in the next book and Tyler who is a MC in Book 5. Jonathan’s voice made me laugh because of who it reminds me of!

I now have to return to Firestorm so that Cal and Savvy can get out of Congo!!!
