  1. I finished Kidnapped by the Pirate by Keira Andrews, narrated by Cornell Collins. The story was pretty good and the narration very good. Then I did some relistening to comfort books.

Right now I’m listening to All the Feels by Olivia Dade, narrated by Kelsey Navarro. Not my usual thing, but well written and the narration is good.

    1. I liked the Dade in print – and I remember enjoying an earlier book of hers that I reviewed in audio. I don’t read much m/f CR, but I’ve liked quite a few of hers.

I listened to Charlie Sunshine this week as well… you’ve probably seen my reivew on GR, but I think I might have to have a break from LM.

      1. I gave Charlie Sunshine the same rating you did, for much the same reasons. There just were any real obstacles to overcome and no tension at all. I enjoyed the characters, and Joel’s narration was excellent, so 4 stars for the audiobook.

I’m enjoying the Dade book and I don’t really have any criticisms, although I find it slightly boring?? Or perhaps too easy to put down? I’m not done yet so I’ll see how I feel about the entire package once I’m done. I’ve only read this one by her, but I think I might like Lucy Parker just a bit more for my m/f reading.

        1. I’m a big fan of Lucy Parker – she’s Australian and her sense of humour and pop culture references etc. feel very British to me! I’ve reviewed two of her books (Act Like it, and Pretty Face); both have more than decent narrators, but I preferred the books in print. I’ve never really been a fan of female narrators – I don’t deny there are some very good ones around, they’re just not my preference and I find it hard to sustain my interest in a book with a solo female narrator.

          1. My favorite adjectives for Lucy Parker are “fresh” and “clever.” I’ve read three of her books so far (print) and plan to continue.

          2. I find the ‘perkiness’ of so many female contemporary romance narrators exhausting!

I enjoyed Lucy Parker’s London Celebrities books but loathed her last one about royalty and cakes – soooo many Americanisms too.

          3. I liked Battle Royal although there was LOT going on. Interestingly, LP was “moved over” to the main Avon imprint for that, after her success with Carina and the London Celebrities series and the cynic in me can’t help thinking that’s probably the reason for the Americanisms – I haven’t noticed them before, but Avon is the Big Romance Imprint, so maybe they felt the need to US-ify it. Ugh.

Agreed on US female narrators – I could pick hardly any of them out of a (vocal) line-up because so few are in any way distinctive.

      2. I haven’t read your review of Charlie Sunshine but I think it was very much a ‘first lockdown’ book, when we all needed very sweet, non-angsty books. I still covet Misha’s flat!

The next (final) book in the series is After Felix, which IMO is one of her best.

        1. That’s true – although I still think it’s weak. IMO, she hasn’t topped Riule Breaker yet. I hear good things about After Felix and I bought it when it came out, so I will listen to it eventually.

If you’re on GR (and we aren’t already friends..?) I’m here – https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4368838-caz Come and find me!
