Graphic: Wishing you a merry little Christmas from the Gals

Welcome to the final Currently Playing of 2021! Thanks for your company and your comments over the past year; it’s been a tough one for all of us (and sadly, it seems we’re not out of the woods yet), but we hope you’ve found some great listens to entertain and enthrall you.  Currently Playing is taking a short break, but the Gals will be here after Christmas with our “Best of the Year”, and will resume our regular programming in the New Year with our usual offering of new reviews and monthly picks.

In the meantime, all of us here at AudioGals would like to send you, dear reader, our very best wishes for your continued health and happiness this holiday season.

Here’s what the Gals are listening to this week.

  1. Merry Christmas, Audiogals!

Last weekend I finished up The Geek Who Saved Christmas by Annabeth Albert, narrated by Tim Paige. I gave the book a B+ and the narration a B-. I also listened to A Very Genre Christmas by Kim Fielding, narrated by Greg Tremblay. I gave it an A for both. Lots of fun!

Next was the audiobook of Madison Square Murders by C.S. Poe, narrated by Kale Williams. The book was 5 star in print and that didn’t change. Kale Williams does a great job narrating the book from Larkin’s POV, paying attention to the slightly flat intonation the author describes. Such a great book. Perhaps my Best of 2021, and definitely a Top Five.

Not sure what to listen to next, but I’m thinking one more sweet Christmas story, perhaps one by Jay Northcote.

    1. Agreed on MSM – I finished it a few days ago (and now have to write a review!); it was excellent all-round.

  2. The Last Thing He Told Me on audio was SOOOO Good!!

Just finished the Woman with the Blue Star. It was a well-crafted story, and should please lovers of WWII fiction (I’ve kinda reached my limit, at least for now). The narration was well-done, as well.
