  1. This past week I’ve listened to Boundary Crossed and Boundary Lines, both by Melissa Olsen, narrated by Kate Rudd. They are books 1 and 2 of the urban fantasy series Boundary Magic. The stories don’t break any new ground, but are very entertaining with solid world-building and well-developed plots. Some of the secondary characters aren’t fully realized, but overall worthwhile. Kate Rudd does a decent job, especially given a large cast of characters. She’s not inspired, but gives a decent experience. These books are part of Kindle Unlimited, and are whispersynced. The audiobooks showed up in my husband’s Audible account when he checked out the ebooks to read at no cost, so I gave them a try. He enjoyed the stories as well. There is a romance element to the books, but it’s definitely not the focus.

I also listened to Sandra Brown’s Outfox, narrated by Victor Slezak, who’s a favorite of mine. I didn’t, however, think Slezak was at his best here. Still very good, but not up to some of his other performances, like Envy. Outfox was good until the end when the author makes a plot decision that makes no sense to me and makes previous conversations in the book unplausible.

Not sure what I’ll listen to next.

    1. I haven’t read or listened to a Sandra Brown book before – I do actually have one in my Audible library (can’t remember which one!) … I’ll get to it someday!

      1. If you can listen to Envy, please do. I love the book within a book plot and Slezak is so good narrating it. Sandra Brown writes fun RS, but I know other authors do as well, so part of my enjoyment of her is probably nostalgia. She was one of the better writers of RS when I first started. And I love this author-narrator combo so I think she’s still one of my favorites.

  2. I abandoned ‘Managed’ by Kristen Callihan – life’s too short to listen to narrations with dodgy English accents so I’ll stick to print for this one.
I went on to start ‘Us’, which is marvellous as expected, but then I saw what Caz wrote yesterday and bought ‘The Same Breath’, so I’m not sure what I’ll do when I next have a listening time!

    1. Hah – spoilt for choice! Sometimes, when something is really calling to me, I just have to give up on whatever it is I’m reading/listening to because I can’t focus on it. I usually have one audio and one ebook on the go at the same time, but occasionally I’ve had to put something aside while I get my fix of whatever and come back to i!
