woman in armchair listening to an audiobook

This Thanksgiving week in the US is a mixed blessing – we’re still under the cloud of COVID-19, but see hope on the horizon. We at AudioGals are grateful for our readers and followers, and for the wonderful authors who write Romance and the amazing team of people it takes to translate their words into audiobooks – the brilliant narrators, the behind-the-scenes editors, sound engineers, publishers and all their various team members whose job titles I don’t even know – THANK YOU!

For those of you who like a bit of visual with your romance, check out Robyn Carr’s Virgin River Season 2 on Netflix, dropping today! and mark your calendars for Christmas Day, December 25, for Julia Quinn’s Bridgertons series produced by Shonda Rhimes on Netflix. (Note: these are US dates. Please chime in the comments if you know the release dates elsewhere!)

  1. I absolutely loved A Dangerous Kind of Lady! I hope you do, too, Em. Kate Reading is absolutely at the top of her game here.

After getting my cellphone/ headphone disaster fixed, I was able to finish Boyfriend Material earlier this week. It’s as good as the hype. I wasn’t prepared for it to deal with as much heavy stuff, but was pleased with how well the author showed the messiness of life, the imperfections of people, and the glory of friendships with such amazing humor. There were times when I didn’t like either protagonists all that much, but I’ve also never laughed out loud as much listening to a book.

Right now I’m listening to Silk is for Seduction by Loretta Chase and narrated by Kate Reading. I love Kate Reading. I’m enjoying it so far, although it hasn’t swept me off my feet and I’m having no problems putting it down. Part of that could be a busier than usual week with one daughter’s birthday, Thanksgiving, and family game day today. More cooking and clean-up than usual. But so far it’s been a fun week. It’s only been my husband, myself, and 4 of our 5 children each time. Three of them live with us right now and one lives close and has been isolating. For the past three years we’ve had boyfriends and friends of our kids come for extended visits in November and December, and we’re all feeling sad about that not happening this year. It’s now been a year since two of my daughters have seen their boyfriend (Florida) or fiance (England) in person.
