  1. I’m doing a lot of re-listening, and yesterday it was Static by LA Witt, narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo. Its an older fantasy mm title, and in this universe there are people who can change genders at will. It is a favorite of mine, and has Michael’s wonderful soothing voice to listen to. I wish Witt had written more books in the world she’s created here, there are certainly plenty of directions to go.

This morning I’m skipping through Herman Wouk’s The Winds of War listening to my favorite sections. Seth McFarlane has recently optioned this and it’s companion War and Rememberance to produce a limited tv series. This is, other than Outlander, is my very favorite book duo so I hope it happens!

And I just bought the Tessa Dare book mentioned above, so that will be on deck soon.

    1. I loved Static (I reviewed it here somewhere!) – I think it might have been my first time listening to Michael Ferraiuolo actually – he’s one of my go-to narrators these days.

      1. It’s very good, isn’t it? And the narration is just perfect. I’ll see if I can track down your review, I think I looked for the book here once and couldn’t find it. Maybe I’ll have better luck this time.

        1. I had indeed found it before and you and I had quite a long conversation in the comments! You were the one who brought the book to my attention in the first place; thanks again for that.

  2. I’m in withdrawal this week after my headphone jack broke off in my phone and can’t be removed, so I can’t listen to audiobooks at the moment. I started Boyfriend Material last weekend, but I’m dead in the water right now. I’m about to try another repair place to see if it can be fixed, because having the broken off piece in the phone messes up my calls as well.

    1. Well, crap. I use my phone occasionally to listen (a bit increased from”almost never” ) because it uses up so much battery life, and because I don’t always wear stuff with pockets to put the phone in while I’m cooking or ironing or whatever. I use a relatively cheap Sansa MP3 player which is about the only one left on the market that plays Audible files – the last one I bought I paid about £25 for and it’s a pretty good player. I’ve also bought some wireless Bluetooth headphones that I use with my phone or Kindle – again around £20 that can go 4-5 hours before they need charging. Would a set of those solve the immediate problem?

      1. Bluetooth wouldn’t have worked because having the piece of the plug in the jack messed up everything to do with audio. But the good news is that I was able to get it fixed! An intrepid young lady at the second repair shop was able to remove the piece and I’m back in business. I AM getting bluetooth headphones for the future! I may also look into a Sansa. Thank you!

        1. Phew! That’s good news! I can’t imagine being without an audiobook on the go these days. So much so that I have two mp3 players, a phone, an old phone with an Audible app on it a Kindle paperwhite that plays audio… yeah, maybe it’s overkill! This is the player I have – https://amzn.to/2UQ2Udr – although I think there is a slightly cheaper model. I’ve had a couple of them over the last six or seven years – the battery life is good and they’re pretty small and come with a clip which is ideal for me as far as the lack of pockets goes! Mine is 8GB and I have a 32GB storage card in it, so I’ve got loads of books on hand. I’ve also got a bluetooth one now, although that’s a bit more expensive. It’s the only reasonably priced mp3 playr I can think of that will play Audible files.

  3. I’ve been thrilled with these Bluetooth headphones from Amazon (US). Only $25.00 and 16 hours battery life. Thousands of five-star ratings. What I particularly like these days is that they don’t hook over my ear and interfere with my covid mask. http://amzn.to/2US0mvm
