  1. I’m listening to The Voice From 808 by Sandra A. Diffusion, narrated by Ava Lucas and Jacob Morgan. I’m about an hour into it, liking it so far!

    1. BTW KesterGayle, you asked a while back about Jay Hogan’s books coming to audio; I’ve just got a copy of First Impressions, which is book one in her Auckland Med series. Right now, it’s on Author’s Direct, but it will be available on Audible, it’s just a case of waiting for it to get through the queue. Gary Furlong is the narrator and from what I’ve heard so far, he’s doing a really good job. I believe she plans to make the whole series available, which is 3 books so far with a 4th on the way.

  2. I DNF Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy. I didn’t care for the character of Jess, and I’m not a fan of Tanya Eby, she is similar to Karen White in that she drawls in an odd way.
    This week I’ve finished:
Temporary by Sarah Mayberry and Sarina Bowen. I enjoyed it and the narrators were mostly good Shane East and Emma Wilder. Emma Wilder’s voice for Callan wasn’t quite there.

Autumn Duchess by Lucinda Brant. It is a little different than the other books I’ve read in that the conflict was almost all in the first half of the book, and the second half dealt with their growing attachment and side stories., but that worked for me!

The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. I ended up liking this more than I thought I would at first. Anthony got on my nerves, but only for a little while. Some parts of the story stretch credulity, but that’s often to be expected.

Up next: British Bedmate by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. Narrated by Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt–two narrators I’ve heard about but not listened to.

  3. Yesterday I listened to Fireball, which is the story of Carole Lombard and the plane crash that killed her. The book gives a good overview of her life and career, her personality, and her marriage to Clark Gable. It looks pretty carefully into what is known about the flight and the crash, which happened just a few weeks after Pearl Harbor. Lombard had been out selling war bonds across America, and was on her way home when the crash occurred, killing everyone aboard. It was written by Robert Matzen and narrated by Tavia Gilbert. The mountain the plane crashed into was so daunting that wreckage and some human remains are still there. Its a very interesting, if tragic story. I liked the narration, but many reviewers felt it was overly dramatic.

Today I listened to Kiwi Strong, which was good but had a lot of darkness in it. It deals with cults and traumatic brain injury, among other things. It was written by Rosalind James and narrated by Emma Wilder and Tom Janson. I expected lighter fare, but I was unfamiliar with this author. It was good, just not what I expected.
