Audiobooks in the Time of Coronavirus – part two

woman in a pink armchair listening with headphones

It’s a stressful time for all of us, and seems likely to remain so for a while –

wherever in the world we are – and looking after ourselves as we try to look after others is important.

Try to do something you enjoy and that makes you happy; if, like us here at AudioGals, one of those things is listening to good audiobooks, then we’re here to help. If you’re looking for some suggestions for your next and future listens, then consider checking out our regular Friday Currently Playing posts, or our monthly Picks for ideas. In response to a comment from one of our readers last week, Caz posted about her favourite Comfort Listens; and here’s Kaetrin to add some of hers.  If you’d like any other suggestions to help get you through these difficult days, you can leave a comment or @AudioGals on Twitter – we’d love to hear from you.

Kaetrin Recommends:

All of my recs contain some heavy topics and violence so they’re not comfort listens in the sense of sinking into a soft cloud – but as a distraction from the real world and with a guaranteed HEA, these are my go-tos.

Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs

Narrated by Lorelei King

I started re-reading the Mercy Thompson series this week after finishing the most recent instalment, Smoke Bitten. I have some time before my next non-audio review book is due and I felt like a comfort read – plus, I really wanted to read them all at once to remind myself of the world building, which after twelve books is very dense indeed. There are some interesting call backs to Moon Called in Smoke Bitten actually.

Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs

The Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs

Narrated by Holter Graham

What better way to escape the real world than to jump into urban fantasy with werewolves, coyote walkers, vampires and fae?

Naked in Death by J.D. Robb

In Death series by J.D.Robb

Narrated by Susan Ericksen

There are FIFTY books in this series now – plus novella length audios too – so listeners won’t run out of them quickly. SFF police procedurals with a kickass cop and a sexy Irish rogue billionaire and a lot of found family.

The Search by Nora Roberts

The Search by Nora Roberts

Narrated by Tanya Eby

This one has rescue dogs and a grumpy carpenter/wood artist hero and a most excellent heroine.
