  1. I’m finishing up my buddy listen of the Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon, among other things. It has been such fun to dish with friends over this amazing series! I highly recommend it for fans of MM mystery/romance. Written 20 years ago, it captures an era and an attitude that is (mostly) gone now, and it created the beginning of a genre as well. It is funny and evocative, and the character development is amazing. Love it!

I also just listened to Hide Your Crazy by Lani Lynn Vale, which was a disappointment. I think this is my last book from her. Very good narration, however. I’ve been trying other new material and not finding much that suits, so for now I guess I’ll be doing still more relistens. It’s always fun to revisit old friends!

I am very much looking forward to Work For It by Talia Hibbert, which has Shane East as one of the narrators. It’s out next week and I’ve had it on pre-order forever, so I’m ready!

    1. I LOVE the AE books – the narrator is superb :) I’d been waiting to find out the narrators for the Hibbert before deciding whether to request it or not; as per our recent January Picks, no narrator had been announced. I have no idea who the other narrator is, but yes, Shane East is enough to have me chomping at the bit!

      1. The other narrator is Chance Thoreau, and this seems to be his first book. At least I can’t find anything about him. Maybe you can direct me to a sample? But Hibbert+Shane is enough for me to give it a chance. Let’s see how it goes!

Yes, the AE narrator is perfect! Those books are so quirky; it’s been fun to watch Lanyon’s mystery writing skills develop as the story progresses. All the tantalizing glimpses of the inner Jake we see, the snark, the forever unanswered questions; there is just so much going on every minute. And the narrator brings all of that to the listener in a precise but powerful fashion.

        1. It’s either Chance Thoreau’s first book OR it’s an alias. If the former, then obviously, having Shane East on board is going to be enough for potential listeners to give a newbie a chance. If the latter… hopefully, it’s someone good!

          1. I’ll find out in a few days, I guess! Chance Thoreau does sound pretty pseudonym-y, so an alter ego is a good guess.
