Time for the Gals to take a look at the new and upcoming titles we’re most looking forward to listening to over the next few weeks in our regular monthly round-up of new (and recent) releases. As usual, our list is a reflection of our personal tastes when it comes to authors and narrators and whether or not we like the look of a particular story. With so many audiobooks being released each month, it’s difficult to keep track sometimes, but we hope you’ll find something that appeals to you in our selection!
Arctic Sun by Annabeth Albert

I’ve been working my way through Annabeth Albert’s audio-backlist – so now I’m eager for something new! I’ve listened to Cooper North a few times (he narrates one of my favourites in the Out of Uniform series, At Attention) and enjoyed his performances, so I’m really looking forward to this new series, which kicks off with an opposites-attract romance set in the wilderness of Alaska. – Caz

I’ve enjoyed some of Grace Burrowes’ books in the past and the blurb on April’s release caught my eye! – BJ
I had reservations about the previous book in this series, but I liked the hero of this one when he appeared there, and Grace Burrowes and James Langton always provide a reliable comfort listen. – Caz
The View from Alameda Island by Robyn Carr
Narrated by Therese Plummer
A storyline with an older heroine and second chance at romance is rare and I’ve enjoyed Robyn Carr’s stories in the past. – BJ
Blood Bonds by Yasmine Galenorn
Narrated by Cassandra Campbell
I don’t know if I’m sad or excited that the twenty-first and final installment in Yasmine Galenorn’s Otherworld series is coming out this month. This is the series that sparked my love of urban fantasy, and while I really want to see how things turn out for these beloved characters, I hate the thought of no more stories being set in this world. Cassandra Campbell has narrated this entire series, and I’m confident in her ability to deliver a stellar performance here.- Shannon

Narrated by Kyla Garcia
I read an early copy of this phenomenal novel in print, and I’m super excited to see that it’s also available as an audiobook. Our heroine is a Cuban exile who wants nothing more than revenge on the dictator who robbed her of everything she loves. Ms. Cleeton is a skilled writer, who breathes life into this turbulent tale of intrigue and revenge. I’ve listened to Ms. Garcia a few times, and I’ve always been pleased with her performances, so I’m pretty sure this will be a fantastic audio experience. – Shannon
The Doctor’s Secret by Heidi Cullinan
Narrated by Iggy Toma
Heidi Cullinan is one of those authors who’s been on my radar for some time, but hadn’t got around to reading. Thanks to my newfound love of Iggy Toma’s voice – he’s recorded all (but one, I think?) of her available audio titles – I’ve finally got around to her books and have enjoyed what I’ve heard so far. The Doctor’s Secret is the first in the author’s Copper Point Medical series, and I love a good medical romance, so that plus Iggy = win! – Caz
City of Flickering Light by Juliette Fay
Narrated by Lisa Flanagan
This is another one I was lucky enough to read an advanced copy of, and I can’t wait for the rest of the world to fall in love with this early Hollywood tale the way I did. It’s a romantic story of three young people desperate to make lives for themselves amidst the glitz and glamour of 1920’s Hollywood. The historical detail is wondrous, and there’s a fabulous romance woven into the story as well. I’m not familiar with Ms. Flanagan’s narration, but I’m hoping she’ll do this story justice. – Shannon
A Deeper Blue by S.E. Harmon
Narrated by Alexander Cendese and Sean Crisden
This is the follow-up to last year’s The Blueprint, which ended with geeky science professor Kelly Cannon and the love of his life, NFL star ‘Blue’ Montgomery finally on track for their HEA. In A Deeper Blue, they’re a couple, but they’re struggling with the secrecy necessitated by Blue’s continued involvement in the very homophobic world of professional sports. Both narrators did excellent work in the first book, so I’m pleased they’re back for the sequel. – Caz

It’s Duffy’s story! I’ve read/listened to the other books in the Southern Eclectic series and I’m looking forward to getting to know Duffy who’s been a bit of a cipher so far. Plus the Harper/Ronconi pairing is fabulous. – Kaetrin
Who Slays the Wicked
by C.S. Harris

This fourteenth book in the Sebastian St. Cyr mysteries promises comeuppance for a truly nasty character from a previous tale. This is a terrific series, featuring compelling characters, incredibly well constructed plots and relationships and a wonderful sense of time and place. Davina Porter’s narration has been consistently good throughout, so I’m assured of an entertaining listen with this one. – Caz

Undue Influence by Jenny Holiday

By one of those strange coincidences, last year saw the publication of two m/m retellings of Jane Austen’s Persuasion, of which this is one, the tale of Adam Elliott, who was persuaded to give up the love of his life, Freddy Wentworth, now a restaurateur and famous TV chef. I’m pleased to see Michael Fell at the helm on this one – he was really good in Ms. Holiday’s Infamous and I’m hoping for more of the same here. – Caz

Trick Roller by Cordelia Kingsbridge

Squeezing this one in as it came out at the end of March, (after we posted our March Picks). This is the second book in the five-book Seven of Spades series of brilliantly plotted, gritty, sexy romantic suspense novels – easily one of the best series I’ve read in recent years Or EVER. Wyatt Baker delivered a fairly good performance in the first book, Kill Game, so I’m back for more! – Caz

I have adored the previous books in this series and can’t get enough of Ms. Panfilio’s narrations so I’m very excited about this one. ~ Kaetrin

Savior by J.R. Ward

It’s no secret how much I love Ms. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and I’m especially excited about this latest installment. The brothers are facing a new and extremely unpredictable threat, and it’s only through joining forces with a banished member of their group that they can hope to defeat it. Jim Frangione is the perfect narrator for this series, so a great listening experience is assured. – Shannon
