What’s in your TBL? June is Audiobook Month!

A Good Audiobook Speaks Volumes logo

Print book readers have their infamous TBR – the dreaded To Be Read pile that takes over the house and the mind and taunts us with wonderful books as yet unexplored. This isn’t unlike knitters and their stash, or crafters stocking up on the latest crafty things! But what about audiobooks? Well – let us introduce you to TBL: To Be Listened (to) – and we just leave off the second “to” because, well, 4 letters in the acronym seems too much!

The TBL can be physical – actual recordings in boxes – or virtual, like the wishlist at Audible or the waitlist at the library. What do the Gals have in their TBLs these days?

Wild Like the Wind by Kristen AshleyBJ: I’m looking forward to Kristen Ashley’s latest, Wild Like the Wind, a new novel in the Chaos series, because KA is a wiz at romance, and I love her brand of MC romance—she hasn’t written a book yet that has disappointed me yet, MC club romance or otherwise, and Kate Russell does a good job of narrating her works, so this is likely to be a great book to get in audio.

How to Blow It with a Billionaire by Alexis HallCaz: I’m sure it will come as no surprise to anyone around here when I say that my current TBL is dominated by a certain Mr. Tremblay (Boudreaux), because I’m on a major narrator glom. That glom includes titles by Rhys Ford, Hailey Turner, Mary Calmes and Annabeth Albert, to name but a few, and I’m very eager to get my hands on the next book in Rachel Grant’s Flashpoint series, Firestorm (out 10th July). I’ve just read an advanced copy and it’s terrific, so I’m really looking forward to the audio.

Otherwise, the audiobook that’s burning a metaphorical hole in my metaphorical pocket is Alexis Hall’s How to Blow it with a Billionaire (narrated by Joel Leslie), book two in the Arden St. Ives trilogy. I have an idea of what’s in store, and I want to wait to listen to it until I can segue straight into book three, which isn’t out until early 2019. I get twitchy occasionally but have managed to resist so far!

And I’m hoping to find time over the summer to listen to a couple of full-cast BBC Radio dramatisations of some of my favourite classics; Anthony Trollope’s Palliser novels and John Galsworthy’s Forsyte Saga.

Suddenly Dating by Julia LondonKaetrin: I have Suddenly Dating by Julia London, narrated by Cristina Panfilio on my TBL. I’m saving it for a special occasion. I loved the other two books in the series and this narrator just works for me on every level.

Atticus by Sawyer BennettMelinda: I have been saving Tina Fey’s Bossypants for a road trip I’m taking with friends soon! But also lingering in the TBL is Atticus: A Woman’s Journey with the World’s Worst Behaved Dog, by Sawyer Bennett, narrated by Bahni Turpin.

And this wraps up our June is Audiobook Month, as well – be sure to enter the giveaway below for a chance to win! #LoveAudiobooks – there’s a month for singing the praises, and a full 365 days for listening!

  1. I love audiobooks and have a few waiting! I love Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St. Mary’s! The recent book is An Argumentation of Historians. I also want to start Eloisa James’ Too Wild to Wed.
