We’ve got an eclectic round-up of what we think are the best of the new and upcoming releases this month. Favourite authors and narrators dominate, but there are a couple of ‘wild cards’ in here, too, audiobooks we think look interesting based on plot descriptions or word-of-mouth which we’re hoping will turn out to meet our expectations. Greg Boudreaux, Rosalyn Landor, Davina Porter, Sebastian York and Andi Arndt pretty much always meet our expectations, so it’s no surprise to see new releases featuring all of them on the list!
Squared Away by Annabeth Albert
Narrated by Greg Boudreaux
Although I wasn’t blown away by the storyline in Wheels Up (the previous instalment in the author’s Out of Uniform series), I nonetheless planned on trying some of the other books. The premise of this new release sounds intriguing – a potential custody battle between a Navy SEAL and a former lover for guardianship of the former’s three children. Add in that it’s narrated by the always fabulous Greg Boudreaux and I’m sooooo there! – Caz

Always reliably entertaining with great narrators, Blakely is an autobuy for me. – Kaetrin
The Hellion by Christi Caldwell

Every month I try to pick to me a new to me author to try based on a blurb that catches my attention. This month, I’m planning to give The Hellion a listen. I love tough heroines and this one sounds like one who is going to give her hero a splendid match. – BJ

I recently discovered the writing/narrating duo of Robyn Carr and Therese Plummer when I listened to their 2017 release The Summer That Made Us. Now I’m looking forward to their latest, The Family Gathering releasing this April. – BJ
Dead Girl Running by Christina Dodd
Narrated by Vanessa Johansson
I’m intrigued by the synopsis of Christina Dodd’s Dead Girl Running. It looks like a great blend of romance and suspense. I’ve read and enjoyed some of Ms. Dodd’s historical novels in the past, so I think I’ll give one of her romantic suspense titles a shot in audio format. I’m not super familiar with Vanessa Johansson’s narrations, but audible’s sound samples seem promising. – Shannon
Marry in Scandal by Anne Gracie
Narrated by Alison Larkin
Anne Gracie’s books have been on my wish list for quite some time, but I’ve never actually settled down to listen to one of them. Fortunately, Marry In Scandal looks like a great introduction to her historical romances, so I’ve made up my mind to grab it as soon as it’s released. Alison Larkin is a narrator I’ve enjoyed in the past, so I’m pleased to see her listed as the narrator here. – Shannon
Why Kill the Innocent by C.S. Harris
Narrated by Davina Porter
The Sebastian St. Cyr series just gets better and better. I read an advance copy of this one, and was well and truly bowled over by the author’s ability to construct a complex, compelling mystery and to so skilfully weave together fact and fiction. Davina Porter returns to narrate this thirteenth instalment in the series, and I’m looking forward to experiencing the story again in audio. – Caz
Murder Takes the High Road by Josh Lanyon
Narrated by Gary Furlong
I’ve enjoyed the handful of romantic mysteries I’ve listened to by this author, and this story of a librarian travelling round Scotland on a mystery-related bus tour and then becoming embroiled in an actual mystery sounds like fun! If it means Gary Furlong gets to bring out that sexy Scottish accent of his, I won’t complain! – Caz
A Devil of a Duke by Madeline Hunter
Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
After the disaster that was book one (The Most Dangerous Duke in London) in this series, I’m looking forward to this second instalment of Madeline Hunter’s Decadent Dukes Society series, which someone has had the good sense to entrust to the very secure hands and voice of Rosalyn Landor. Drop-dead gorgeous duke meets a woman living a double life… I’m intrigued. – Caz
The Last King by Katee Robert
Narrated by Brooke Hayden
I was so excited to see that Katee Robert was starting a new series featuring a super wealthy Texas family. I love books about the rich and powerful who struggle to find love amidst scandal and intrigue, so The Last King looks perfect for me. Brooke Hayden is a narrator I’m not familiar with, but I’m willing to chance it. – Shannon

Anyone who knows me knows I’m nuts about J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The stories are filled with the perfect combination of swoonworthy romance, comprehensive world-building, and nonstop action. The Thief is the latest novel in this long-running series, and I couldn’t be happier about its release. Jim Frangione’s skilled narration is sure to add an extra layer of excellence to a stellar story, making it one of my most anticipated audiobooks of 2018. – Shannon
