FlashReviews: A Concept Whose Time Has Arrived

Is it worth a credit?

While discussing the whole “my uncle has a barn and my aunt can make costumes, so let’s put on a Romance Audiobook Blog” thing, I started pondering reviews. I mean, there’s reviews and then there’s – well – reviews. Not that we don’t all love them – WE DO!! But I was thinking of the New World Order in which complete books could be, and indeed are, written in 25 words or less.

The idea of a sort of flash mob review popped into my brain. You’re sitting there, minding your own business, when ZAP! an audiobook review pops up. You didn’t see it coming. Then it’s gone.

My first thought was just, oh, 2-3 sentences outlining the plot, 2-3 sentences remarking on the narration. After all, how often do you really care for the reviewer’s rehash of the plot? Sometimes all you need to know is “Is it worth a credit?”

I am trying to take the concept one step farther: can I do it in under 140 characters including a link to the full review?

Stay tuned as I try to turn out a FlashReview for every book I’ve ever read in a format intended to help you, the eager audiobook enthusiast, decide the answer to that burning question: “Is it worth a credit?”

  1. Melinda has a real talent for reviewing an entire in audio 140 characters or less. I’m trying but I’m afraid I won’t meet your standard Melinda! How about 300 characters? I think I love to gab too much! I’ve never been known as a direct and to-the-point speaker…
