August & September 2014 Picks

What romance audiobooks releasing in August and September do we believe are especially promising? We feel these titles are good bets based on author, narrator, personal knowledge, or print reviews of the story content. Or maybe it’s just a gut feeling we have.

In an attempt to catch up and start offering this feature the last week of every month, we are combining August and September.

Xe Sands has done a fantastic job with the previous stories in Anne Stuart’s Scandal at the House of Russell trilogy about three sisters who are trying to find out who murdered their industrialist father. Never Marry a Viscount is the final book, and will, I hope, reveal all – Caz

Not only do I get to enjoy the thrilling combination of Anne Stuart’s writing and Xe Sands delightful narration, but this is the third of a trilogy and ties up the mystery of the three Russell sisters – who is responsible for the death of their father and whether or not they get their revenge – Victoria

I think the words “by Sherry Thomas” are enough reason to have chosen this as a “pick”!  She’s one of my favourite writers and one of the best in the genre, so I’m really looking forward to this – Caz

Just reading the name “Sherry Thomas” brings on the magic I feel when reading or listening to one of her tales. 1. This is an awesome line-up of new releases! I am really excited about quite a few of these.

  2. Not counting kid audio-books, one of my first audios was AQ”s The Wicked Widow narrated by Barbara Rosenblat. It is sooo good! I got it and other AQ’s on CD at the library and listened to them on my Sony Walkman. Back in the day. :)

I’m cautiously looking forward to Rachel Gibson’s new one. The last few were not to my taste, but I love her earlier books, especially the Gospel and Truly, Idaho romances. One of her Chinook books, True Love and Other Disasters is on my top ten contemporary list.

The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer was so enjoyable, I really liked Georgina Sutton’s narration.

The SEP book already as 87 holds at the library!!!!! I’m #2…..whoo hooo!
