Looking Back at June 2015 – Our News, Reviews and Features

We don’t like to do things by halves here at AudioGals, and we certainly pulled out the stops to mark June Is Audiobook Month, running our biggest ever Giveaway, with over 450 audiobooks up for grabs.  Six lucky winners have so far selected 120 titles – but we’re not finished yet!  Look out for Part Two later this month.

In addition to that, we ran twenty-eight new reviews, welcomed two new narrator friends (Amy Rubinate and Cris Dukeheart) and brought you more of our exclusive First Chapter Listens. And for those of you new to AudioGals – and those not-so-new who like to know where to find things – we’ve created a new Index to Our Recorded Events.

Looking Back at May 2015

There’s lots to look forward to in the coming weeks. We’ll be running a number of narrator chats with First Chapter Listens and giveaway copies up for grabs as well as Part Two of our massive Review Copy Giveaway. Lea and AG favorite Karen White will be discussing the key elements of a Narrator’s Workshop in May while narrators were in NYC to attend APAC, and we’ll be taking a look at Young Adult audiobooks, with a number of reviews and features.  All that plus, of course, our regular round up of current listens and plenty of new reviews.

Keep watching this space and Happy Listening!

  1. Thanks for all your hard work and generosity. Your website just keeps getting better and better.

  2. I just finished reading Dearest Rogue, now I want to hear it in audio too!! I’m going to check out a few more on your review list :) Thanks for sharing

    1. Dearest Rogue is one of my favourite books of the year – I’m glad you liked it too! I enjoyed the audiobook as well, although I didn’t rate the narration quite as highly as Diana did (it was around a B+ for me), but it’s still a great listen. I hope you enjoy it!

  3. What an awesome job you all have done for us this month! I love the summary with narration and content grades. Sure helps me cut through to which reviews I want to read first. I don’t bother with Audible reader reviews anymore since all of you do such thorough, professional reviews. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

    1. Thank you SO MUCH for your kind comments – it’s lovely to get such great feedback.

I’m also really glad to know that these round-ups are useful :)

    2. Thanks Gale Ann! It was a very busy month. And I love that you are relying on us for reviews!

  4. I add my thanks and congratulations. I think your website is tops. I am an eclectic reader who enjoys the occasional romance novel along with mysteries, sci-fi, and history. The March 2015 Narrators’ Forum with Simon Vance and Luke Daniels (two of my favorites) and four other narrators was a joy, and I learned a lot. I’ve also been enjoying Lea’s archived articles–I laughed out loud at her comments about Phil Gigante (that HAS to be a stage name, don’t you think?) and Karen Marie Moning’s “Highlander” series. I’ve listened to three of these and loved every minute. But I probably wouldn’t ever have bothered with them if not for the online reviewer input and Audible’s narrator samples. Like Lea, I think Phil makes these fun, light (dare I say even silly), sexy reads into something great.

Thanks again for “AudiGals” and all the work that must go into it. It’s obviously a labor of love, if not of romance.

    1. Thanks Carol! I’m glad to hear that you are finding the Speaking of Audiobooks archives entertaining. There’s a lot to contemplate there but there is also a LOT of great discussion.

And I don’t know what to think of the name “Gigante”. Ha! I’m sure I have thought that at some time too but, for some reason, I think that really is his name!
