Road Trip Romances – Voices on the Road Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Voices on the Road Blog Tour Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother’s house we go!

November is the busiest travel month of the year and the perfect time to listen to audiobooks. The Audio Publishers Association has partnered with several review blogs to spread the word about how audiobooks are ideal travel companions.

The Gals talked about audiobooks + road trips and decided our contribution to the Voices on the Road Blog Tour and Giveaway would be to introduce listeners to the joy of Road Trip Romances in audio. This trope is practically a subgenre of Romance – there are road trip romances in every genre, from contemporary to paranormal to medieval romances. It’s a simple concept: the protagonists take a road trip together! The intimacy of road trips lends itself well to developing relationships, and mimics the journey the couple takes to finding their happy-ever-after together by the time the narrator says “The End” (or “Epilogue”!!). For romance fans, there’s nothing quite like spending hours alone with the hero and heroine (or hero/hero or heroine/heroine – lots of choices!), and the road trip romance allows time for true love to develop while they travel.

There’s also a giveaway! Enter for chance for a chance to win a fantastic selection of 10 audiobooks that have been generously donated by Galaxy Press, Hachette Audio, Harper Audio, High Bridge Audio, Macmillan, Penguin Random House Audio, Post Hypnotic Press, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster Audio, and Tantor Audio. You’ll find the entry form is below.

No way could we limit ourselves to just 5 titles, so bookmark this page so you can fill up your TBL with some terrific audiobooks – and now, without further ado, here are some great Road Trip Romances for everyone to enjoy, even if your journey this month is only to your favorite comfy chair!

Wanted: A Gentleman by K.J. CharlesCaz: My all time favourite of these in audio is probably Tessa Dare’s A Week to be Wicked narrated by Carolyn Morris. The KJ Charles novella, narrated by Greg Patmore, Wanted: A Gentleman is a good one, too. Karen Hawkins’ Caught by the Scot is a roadtrip story, narrated by Gary Furlong.  Caroline Linden’s Six Degrees of Scandal narrated by Beverly A. Crick, is mostly a road trip  and Cat Sebastian’s The Soldier’s Scoundrel has a road trip in the middle, although it doesn’t take up more than half the book – it’s also narrated by Gary Furlong. Katharine Ashe’s The Earl, narrated by Saskia Maarleveld – a road  trip  in Scotland when the hero discovers someone is impersonating him and doing bad things, so he and the heroine have to go on the run until they can prove who they really are…

Kaetrin: My favourite Road Trip Audios, in no particular order, include:

Brenda: I’m almost a complete ditto to Kaetrin’s Road Trip Romances but I can also add Fate’s Edge by Ilona Andrews, narrated by Renee Raudman.

Infinity Plus One by Amy HarmonBJ: One of my top 2017 listens, Hard Truth About Sunshine by Sawyer Bennett, is set against the backdrop of a road trip. Infinity + One by Amy Harmon also features a road trip.

Shannon: Yes! Infinity + One is wonderful in so many ways, including the road trip.

Melinda: I’m in agreement with you all! Heaven, Texas is a romp but my favorite SEP/Chicago Stars road trip is Natural Born Charmer, narrated by Anna Fields. Of course, it morphs from road trip to cabin romance… touching all the feels! And SEP’s other wonderful road trip romance is First Lady, also narrated by Anna Fields. Imagine the former First Lady, now widowed, going on the lam in an RV with a strange man and 2 kids. Wait – then there’s Fancy Pants … Yeah, Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Anna Fields – a true romance audiobook dream team!

All this talk of favorite road trips has me hankering to get my car keys, load a couple long road-trip audiobooks on the player, and head out of town!
