A Podcast Review

Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words was so much freaking fun that when I was done, I was inspired to actually podcast my review instead of writing it all down. Yeah, it’s not gonna be one of those polished podcasts, since I winged it on an app I downloaded about 3 minutes before starting (Opinion, which is no longer available on the Apple store). I spent maybe, oh, 20-ish minutes recording and editing (it’s only 6 minutes long), but had a blast doing it!

A Podcast Review of Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec and Andi Arndt

Please forgive my apparent vocal fry – I swear I don’t talk like that when in conversation with people, but I really did just download and start speaking off the top of my head – to my phone – (hence all the pickups, where I forgot the neighbor’s name and stuff like that!!). I have always had a lot of admiration for narrators, and that has increased 100-fold since I recorded this review! And there’s one sound effect – bonus points if you can figure out what it is! Hint: about 4:46.

  1. I was a podcast virgin until I listened to your review, Melinda! What a fun tribute to a very funny book! Andi was great, as always, and the story was hilaious. Andi is from Minnesota, so her accents were all home grown, and she clearly was having a blast narrating this book. The parents were particularly funny, imo, and I loved how Heidi just kept forcing herself to come out of her shell. It’s the perfect book when you need some funny in your life, but it has a gentle message too. 5 stars! And your ‘sound effect’…does it also go ‘woof’ sometimes? 🐕 😉

    1. Yes, the sound effect might be associated with a 🐕 shaking its head… another thing a professional would not have in her podcast!! 😂🎧🎤

  2. Oh My Gosh! Can we talk? I absolutely love this story. I laughed out loud so much. My husband banished me to the bedroom and I didn’t give a darn. While commuting from work, other drivers looked at me like I had lost my mind. When I grow up I want to be Heidi.

    1. I know, right???? Yeah it was a laugh riot – Tara Sivec has her own way of looking at the world that matches right up with my own, I guess. Add Andi Arndt to the mix, and it’s over the top. I think I need to listen to it once a month!!
