New year, new listens… here’s our latest batch of monthly picks, the audiobooks the Gals are most looking forward to listening to over the coming weeks. Whether our choices are based on tried and trusted authors, favourite narrators or a mixture of the two, because we like the sound of the story, or plain old gut instinct, we’re hoping for plenty of great fodder for our ears this month!
How to Date Your Dragon by Molly Harper
Narrated by Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis
This is sure to be a good mix of PNR with humor, and although I haven’t listened to Jonathan Davis, I have enjoyed Amanda Ronconi’s narrations in the past, so I’m looking forward to listening to this title. – BJ
This is the first book in a new series from Molly Harper and the first one which has a dual narration – more hero PoV FTW! I have high hopes. – Kaetrin
Molly Harper is almost the only PNR I listen to – mostly due to Amanda Ronconi! Plus Harper’s excellent writing and storytelling skills, and all. Should be great! – Melinda
The English Wife by Lauren Willig
Narrated by Barrie Kreinik
I’ve heard such great things about this book and I know that Barrie Kreinik is an excellent narrator, so count me in! – Caz
I was lucky enough to read an early copy of The English Wife in print, and it totally blew me away. It’s a wonderful blend of romance and mystery set in gilded age New York. Plus, Barrie Kreinik is narrating, and she’s someone whose work I’ve come to enjoy over the past couple of years. – Shannon
Heart on Fire by Amanda Bouchet
Narrated by Mia Barron
After a year-long wait between book two and the conclusion in book three, I’m eagerly anticipating Heart on Fire which is sure to be thrilling, creative and well-narrated by Mia Barron. – BJ
Most Likely To Score by Lauren Blakely
Narrated by Andi Arndt & Zachary Webber
Lauren Blakely books are reliably good for me and this narrator pairing is also a big draw. – Kaetrin
His Sister’s Bridegroom by Jane Bonander
Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
Jane Bonander is a new-to-me author, but I like the sound of this story, in which our bookish hero somehow manages to propose to the wrong sister. With Rosalyn Landor narrating, I’m hoping for an entertaining listen. – Caz
His Sinful Touch: The Mad Morelands by Candace Camp
Narrated by Will Thorne
I’m not familiar with the narrator and unless he’s using a pseudonym, he’s relatively new to the world of audiobooks, but I’ve enjoyed the last couple of books of Ms. Camp’s I’ve read, so I’m keen to delve into something of hers in audio. As far as I can make out, the original four books of the Mad Morelands series appeared between 2003 and 2005, so there’s been a long break between books four and five! – Caz
Strong Enough by Melanie Harlow & David Romanov
Narrated by Joel Leslie & Bruce Cullen
I’ve had great success with Melanie Harlow books in the past and I’m keen to try her foray into m/m romance. I don’t know either of the two narrators but fingers crossed! – Kaetrin
Oversight by Santino Hassell
Narrated by Greg Boudreaux
The second book in Santino Hassell’s Community picks up where book one (Insight) and introduces us to rich, golden-boy Holden Payne… who is set up to take the fall for a number of recent murders and disappearances. This sexy, paranormal thriller has the added attraction of being narrated by Greg Boudreaux (Tremblay), so it’s bound to be fabulous! – Caz
Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Narrated by Steve West and Alex McKenna
Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner are both authors I keep meaning to check out, and now they’re teaming up to write a series together. Unearthed, the first book, looks fabulous. It’s a tale of love and danger set on an alien planet. Steve West is a very accomplished narrator, so I was glad to see his name listed here. I’m not familiar with Alex McKenna’s work, but I’m hoping for good things.- Shannon
Promise Not to Tell by Jayne Ann Krentz
Narrated by Susan Bennett
I’m in the mood for a good romantic suspense title, and Promise Not to Tell caught my eye, so even though I haven’t yet had the opportunity to listen to narrator Susan Bennett, I’ll be listening to this. – BJ
Temporary by Sarah Mayberry & Sarina Bowen
Narrated by Emma Wilder and Shane East
I read this one in print and I’m so excited it’s coming out on audio. I know the authors went to great pains to find a male narrator who could do the Australian accent. I’ve only heard East do his native British accent but Brits tend to be able to do an Aussie accent and he has major credibility points with me. – Kaetrin
I’m a big fan of Sarah Mayberry – I wish more of her work was on audio! – Melinda
Keep Her Safe by K.A. Tucker
Narrated by Robin Eller, Will Damron, Wendy Tremont King and Roger Casey
K.A. Tucker is an autobuy author for me, and I’m especially excited for Keep Her Safe, her latest novel of romantic suspense. It focuses on a family of cops who have kept a terrible secret for years. I have limited experience with Will Damron’s narrations, but the rest of the narrators listed here are new to me. Hopefully, they’ll do Ms. Tucker’s work justice. – Shannon
Blood Fury by J.R. Ward
Narrated by Jim Frangione
I’m a long-time fan of J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and, while her spin off Black Dagger Legacy series isn’t quite as magical, I still find myself pre-ordering each upcoming installment. Blood Fury, book three, is the story of trainee fighters Peyton and Novo, but what’s got me super excited is that Saxton is finally getting his HEA with a sexy new member of the brotherhood’s household. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out, and Jim Frangione is the perfect narrator to bring this story to life. – Shannon
