Our December 2017 Picks

Here we are with our final set of audiobook Picks for 2017. These are all titles we’re looking forward to listening to over the next few weeks (or have already listened to in December) – some are by tried and trusted authors and narrators, some are by new authors or new narrators, but which we’re planning to try based on ‘buzz’ or gut instinct. Are you looking forward to any of these, too? Are any of them on your Christmas list this year? Drop by and let us know in the comments which audiobooks YOU’RE looking forward to this December!

The Hookup by Kristen AshleyThe Hookup by Kristen Ashley

Narrated by Lance Greenfield and Stella Bloom

I am all the excite!! A new KA book and excellent narrators. I was really impressed with Lance Greenfield’s work in Complicated and Stella Bloom is another favourite of mine. I don’t even care what the book’s about. – Kaetrin

The V Card by Lauren Blakely and Lili ValenteThe V Card by Lauren Blakely & Lili Valente

The Truth About Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden

The Truth About Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden

Narrated by Mary Sarah

I reviewed another book (in print) in Elisa Braden’s Rescued from Ruin series earlier this year, and enjoyed it, so I was pleased to see the series is coming to audio. This is the second book, and features a marriage of convenience (my catnip) between a handsome duke and a plain Jane… I’m not familiar with the narrator, but the sample I listened to didn’t send me away screaming, so fingers crossed! – Caz

Enlightened by Joanna Chambers

Narrated by Hamish McKinlay

I loved this series in print and have loved it all over again in audio. Hamish McKinlay’s superb narrations have been the icing on the cake of this three-part story of a young Scottish advocate who falls in love with an enigmatic nobleman, and I can’t wait to listen to this final instalment. – Caz

Insight by Santino Hassell

Insight by Santino Hassell

Narrated by Greg Boudreaux

I’ve heard great things about Mr. Hassell’s writing but haven’t so far got around to reading any of his work, but a fellow AAR reviewer had good things to say about this first book in his PNR/UF Community series.  With Greg Boudreaux narrating, I know I’ll be in for a good listen. – Caz

Once Upon a Christmas Eve by Elizabeth HoytOnce Upon a Christmas Eve by Elizabeth Hoyt

Narrated by Ashford McNab

Once Upon a Christmas Eve is the final installment in Elizabeth Hoyt’s long-running Maiden Lane series, and, while I’m not normally a big fan of novellas, I will make an exception for this one. I’m sad to see the series come to an end, but I’m eager to see how the author brings it to a close. I have loved Ashford McNab’s narration of the books in the series, so I’m pleased to see she’ll be back at the helm here. – Shannon

Flame in the Dark by Faith HunterFlame in the Dark by Faith Hunter

Narrated by Khristine Hvam

I’ve become a big fan of both the storyline and narration of the aurthor’s  Jane Yellowrock series and am now enjoying her urban fantasy Soulwood series, so  I’m looking forward to listening to book three,  Flame in the Dark. –BJ

His Turn by J.A. HussHis Turn: The Turning Series by JA Huss

Narrated by Sebastian York and Kate Russell

JA Huss and the narrating duo of Sebastian York and Kate Russell are turning up the heat in the conclusion to this erotica trilogy. I, for one, am looking forward to finally digging into this series now that it will be complete. – BJ

Roomies by Christina LaurenRoomies by Christina Lauren

Narrated by K.C. Sheridan

I am an avid fan of writing duo Christina Lauren.  Though I’m not familiar with narrator K.C. Sheridan, I plan to give Roomies a listen this December. – BJ

If Ever I Should Love You by Cathy MaxwellIf Ever I Should Love You by Cathy Maxwell

Narrated by Mary Jane Wells

I suppose if you have to have a title that’s a silly play on a song title, riffing on a Lerner and Loewe number at least adds a touch of class! I admit that I was underwhelmed by Ms. Maxwell’s last series, but this is on my list because of the narrator – Mary Jane Wells has never let me down yet. – Caz

I’ve never read or listened to anything by Cathy Maxwell, but the synopsis for If Ever I Should Love You caught my attention. Plus, it’s narrated by the always fabulous Mary Jane Wells. What a great way to get acquainted with the author’s work! – Shannon

Year One by Nora RobertsYear One by Nora Roberts

Narrated by Julia Whelan

Nora Roberts is trying her hand at writing dystopian-themed romances, and I’m looking forward to seeing how she does it. Year One has received quite a lot of buzz in the months leading up to its release, and I’m hopeful it will live up to the hype. Julia Whelan is a skilled narrator so I’m pretty sure I’m in for a treat. – Shannon

Dear Aaron by Mariana ZapataDear Aaron by Mariana Zapata

Narrated by Callie Dalton & Teddy Hamilton

I bought this book as soon as it was published but haven’t found time to read it yet. My TBL is much shorter and I really want to get to this one so audio it is. Callie Dalton is great so I expect a successful listen. – Kaetrin
