Legal Briefs by N.M. Silber

Legal BriefsNarrated by Tavia Gilbert

I have really enjoyed the voice of N. M. Silber in her Lawyers in Love series. She’s funny with so many laugh out loud moments, Lucy-and-Ethel capers and hot steamy sex between the unlikely protagonists. And honestly, how many contemporary romances also take on the Jewish traditions, like a bris?

Lily Adler and Adam Roth have known each other since “the glitter incident” that happened in pre-k. They were the extra couple in the first 2 books, where Gabrielle and Braden get together. They have been fighting, therefore, on and off for more than 20 years, while never realizing the antagonism they were feeling might actually have been attraction all along. In Legal Briefs, just when they decide to acknowledge and pursue that attraction, there’s something funny uncovered in Lily’s apartment building – and some shady folks are acting weird. Is she being followed? What does the cryptic note about her fan mean? And who is the Fox? So Adam offers to move in with her to protect her, and the gang decides to have a house party to see if they can get the Fox to show himself.

Between Adam’s mother being so pleased that he’s finally found a nice Jewish girl (and pretty much planning their wedding), their crazy friends and the identity of the Fox, there’s a lot of love and sex and laughs to keep anyone who likes a good, snappy, contemporary romance happy.

And Tavia Gilbert is a hoot on this one! She’s got a number of great characters stored in her brain, including the crazy neighbors and friends (the always drunk Vixen, the Russian, Lily’s law library coworker). Her gender differentiation is excellent, and her pacing is perfect. She has terrific comic timing as well. Ok, I’m not a big fan of how involved she gets in the sex scenes, but maybe that’s just me. I’ll try to get past it, because she totally rocks this book!

This could be read as a stand alone, but really, indulge yourself and read all of them, in order, to really experience the fun.
