Introducing AudioGals Reviewer Lisa!

Lisa's iconWelcome to our newest reviewer – Lisa Finch!

Working with Lisa the last few weeks as we prepared for her introduction and her first review, I found my initial enthusiasm only increased with each discussion we had. Lisa knows books – both from personal reading and working with books for years now. She’s a long time audiobook listener and began listening when she was a teenager. Her first audiobook? Danielle Steele’s Thurston House in cassette tape format!

Although we pride ourselves on our reviewers’ variety of tastes, I believe Lisa will add yet more diversity to the reviews we offer each month. AudioGals has a page dedicated to her under Gal Friends – Our Reviewers – complete with her bio and a few of her favorite romance audiobooks. If you find her listening tastes match your own, you’ll want to keep your eye on her reviews. Under Reviews on the menu bar, you will find Reviews by Reviewer which expands into individual lists of reviews by reviewer. We’re running her first review today – Menna van Praag’s The Dress Shop of Dreams narrated by Jennifer Carr.

In Lisa’s bio, she tells us that her first job only fueled her love of reading and audiobook listening. She was book-nerdy enough to feel that she hit the job jackpot when she landed a position at her small southern town’s public library. She worked there after school and in the summers until she left for college. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in education, and continued reading habitually and listening to audiobooks every step of the way. As she began her career as a teacher, she incorporated audiobooks into her lesson plans, hoping to foster a love for books in the children she taught. After many years of teaching in public education, Lisa changed career paths. She now works for PBS Learning Media at her local affiliate television station. Her career path has always led to books and media, and for that she is eternally grateful.

Lisa tells us that she has too many favorite authors to list but Liane Moriarty, Mariane Keyes, Pat Conroy, Rebecca Wells, Harper Lee, and Jane Austen (Mr. Darcy was her first true love) are among her top favorites. Her most recent favorite audio listens include the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, any book written by Pamela Clare, and the On Dublin Street series by Samantha Young.

Please join us in welcoming Lisa! And be sure to check out her review of The Dress Shop of Dreams (immediately below).

    1. Yes – some day we’ll have to run a poll just for the fun of it asking “Did you listen to audiobooks back in the day when they were only available in cassette tape format?” I certainly did!

      1. It took me a forever to change my automatic vocabulary from “Books on Tape” to “Audiobooks” and I still revert at times.:D

        1. I STILL say books on tape! My children look at me like I’m crazy. Old habits die hard…
