  1. LOVE.LOVE. LOVE “A Discovery of Witches” in audio! Jennifer Ikeda is soooo good!

I just finished listening to “Oracle Moon” by Thea Harrison. Doing it backwards and now listening to “Serpent’s KIss” next. I didn’t like the latter in print, but Sophie Eastlake is so good that I’m going to give it a try.

Oh and I finally finished “Captives of the Night”…..it took me months, but I ended up liking Leila Beaumont after all. Kate Reading is magic!

    1. Yes, Kate Reading is simply wonderful in “Captives” – I am chomping at the bit waiting for “The Last Hellion”!

    2. You didn’t have any problem with her tones? I like her accents-they sound very authentic-but I have hard time hearing separate characters. The British guys all sound the same as do the British girls.

      1. Was your comment about Jennifer Ikeda or Kate Reading? I didn’t have your experience with either narrators….each character was very distinctive to me.

          1. I think narrator preference is very much like Coke verses Pepsi…..I’ll drink Coke, but I won’t touch Pepsi :) It’s all so subjective. I love Renee Raudman and she is fantastic as the narrator for Ilona Andrews’ books, but I didn’t care for her reading of Burn for Me. Most people loved and praised her performance. There are narrators that are beloved here at Audiogals that put me to sleep or make me nauseated to listen to their voices. But…..I love the conversation and it drives me to try “some” narrators again (through my library) if I liked the print version of their audiobooks.

As far as Jennifer Ikeda…..as much as I loved ADoW I didn’t enjoy reading the last two books as much, but her narration changed my view, even the last book which I loathed in print became enjoyable because of her narration.

            Who do you like?

          2. I don’t disagree with any of your statement! It’s all subjective. I haven’t been able to listen to Raudman as Daniels’ but I’ve managed her in other works (as long as I haven’t previously read it).

I love Phil Gigante, Karen White, Moira Quirk (I’m EXCITED for her performance of Prudence out 3/17) and Karen White. I tend toward more female narrators because I feel they do a better job of making the book sound like a full cast.

      1. Are you talking about Thea Harrison and Sophie Eastlake? I just one-clicked Lords Fall from Audible…..gonna get my Dragos fix!!

  2. On Book 5 of Outlander books. Think I may have to take a breako after this one to listen to something else before I tackle the next Outlander book!

  3. Ooh, I just picked up the Will in digital and couldn’t resist the low priced audiobook so I got that too. I’m actually listening to the audiobook of After Hours by Cara McKenna (narrated by Lucy Rivers) right now, it’s great!

  4. Mel, who do I like in narration? Davina Porter and Nicholas Boulton are in one class for one mood (longer listens, character development, hot fudge over neopolitan ice cream); Katherine Kellgren – she would be my character actress (love her Jacky Faber and Royal Spyness; definitely a peppermint chocolate covered pretzel); and Xe Sands – so soothing and creme brulee (Although she couldnt save Inevitable, the one i just force fed myself),

    1. I love Davina Porter! Have you listened to Marion Chesney’s Edwardian series Our Lady of Pain? I really liked DP’s narration…..the series is a hoot. Listening to Nick Boulton narrating a beloved book is Nirvana. :)
