A Month of Romance Audio Favorites

Kiss an AngelWe launched AudioGals in August of 2012 and in our nineteen months, we have published close to 300 reviews. Last month on Valentine’s Day, we featured Our Valentine to Romance Audiobooks, reminiscing about our first days of discovering our love of romance audiobooks. All of us here at AudioGals answered the question “What early romance audiobooks hooked us and turned us into longtime listeners?”

As we shared these old favorites with you, I realized that due to our young age as a website, we had few reviews of these romance audios that are so dear to us. So we’re taking time this month to reminiscence with you about some of our first romance audio loves.

We’re beginning our month today with Shannon’s review of Judith Ivory’s The Proposition narrated by Steven Crossley (2003) and Melinda’s review of Julia Quinn’s When He Was Wicked narrated by Simon Prebble (2006).

And this image of Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Kiss an Angel? It’s one of my old favorites I’ll be reviewing this month!

It’s going to be a very good month.

  1. Thank you so much for this! Your recommendations are always great. The audioGals’ guide to romance audiobooks has helped me choose the most enjoyable listens, so have the Grade A reviews. My only fear now is to go bankrupt…

  2. Thanks Bea and I know what you mean on bankrupt! The first five years I was building my audio library, I spent tons (for me) especially considering the fact that I was paying $60-100 each for used hard copies of SEP’s books, Gabaldon’s Outlander series, etc. on eBay. That was before Audible. But boy, I treasured those books. And now I have replaced nearly all of those old favorites with digital copies (although all had been made into MP3 files).

We’re so happy to be of help in choosing your audios.

  3. Loved the book Kiss an Angel! Am considering the audio. I hate this cover image, btw. Shudder.
Much enjoyed Steven Crossley’s take on Micky in The Proposition.

    1. SEP has had two sets of the worst covers! Guess it’s because a number of her books were recorded before 2000 when audiobooks weren’t considered all that special and they just put up any old cut and paste. I’ll provide all the audio covers (if I can locate online) when I write the review. :)
