News Flash: Karen Robards’ One Summer and Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels

One SummerOkay, we’re just plain excited around here about the rerelease and release of these two treasured romances.

One Summer

Karen Robards’ One Summer, a hard-to-find audiobook that ranks as a Three Gal Favorite and is narrated by none other than Anna Fields, is scheduled for rerelease on March 1st!

It’s the same audiobook with the ever-so-loved Anna Fields but now it will be available as a download. No more searching out old library copies and listening to scratchy tapes or CDs.

Brenda and I both own worn hard copies that we found on eBay years ago. In fact, both are old library copies. In October 2012, Brenda and I started an official search for One Summer, attempting to  first discover the publisher who now owned Chivers Sound Library and then, locate a contact. We wanted the publisher to know of our belief that a rerelease of One Summer would generate a high level of enthusiasm among romance listeners. Although our search eventually led us to AudioGo, we found no further information.

As I spoke with Blackstone Audio’s Greg Boguslawski a few months ago, Greg mentioned that Blackstone, with their purchase of AudioGo, had acquired the Chivers library of audio titles as well as that of BBC America and AudioGo US. Suddenly realizing that here was the contact we had been seeking for more than a year, I made our request for One Summer‘s rerelease. Last week, I was thrilled to hear from Greg that Blackstone would indeed be rereleasing this beloved audio title.

I encourage you to take a look at our Two Gal Talk featuring One Summer complete with a review and sound clips. And keep watch here for a big One Summer giveaway once the title becomes available!

Lord of Scoundrels

Lord of Scoundrels

And more news on the audio release of Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels. Earning the top spot in the Authors You Most Want to See In Audio category  in both the 2011 and 2012 Speaking of Audiobooks Favorite Romance Audiobooks Poll, it’s clear that romance listeners have been longing to see Ms. Chase’s backlist in audio format.

In November, we discovered that Blackstone Audio had scheduled Lord of Scoundrels for release on February 15th. Although we were quite happy with that news, we didn’t let ourselves get too excited as the identity of the narrator was unknown. Last week, we learned who would be performing this all-time favorite.

All I can say is “Let the dancing begin!”

Kate Reading will be narrating Lord of Scoundrels. That’s the Kate Reading from Lauren Willig’s ever-so-popular Pink Carnation series. Yes, the same Kate Reading who narrated Christine Warren’s Others series.

It’s this type of news that keeps our level of enthusiasm high for romance audio. Give us a long time favorite (Lord of Scoundrels has been chosen #1 in AAR’s Top 100 Poll since 2000) and add a dynamic narrator we know and trust, and we’ll be shouting the news and marking its release on our calendars. Keep your eyes out for an AudioGals Lord of Scoundrels giveaway upon its release.

Thank you Blackstone Audio for Karen Robards One Summer and Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels!

      1. All of them, I think. Audible has abridged versions of her last three books and the Arthurian saga; they have no unabridged titles.

  1. Fantastic news! I’ve never listened to the audiobook but my paperback copy of One Summer is frayed from so many rereads. And Lord of Scoundrels! The next thing you have to tell us is that Mr. Impossible will be released as well to make it absolutely perfect (greedy, am I not?)

  2. Yay! You gals are wonderful. Even though I am AWOL right now, I try to keep up with the blog posts and this one brought me out of hiding.

I miss you all and look forward to getting back to audiobook listening soon!

    1. Carrie this is great news isn’t it? I hope you’re still getting to listen to audiobooks even if not reviewing right now. Looking forward to having you back with us when your schedule allows. :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by Kate. Lord of Scoundrels has kept me laughing each time I have read in print and just plain gasping at that not-to-be-mentioned pivotal scene.

  3. I just finished LORD OF SCOUNDRELS by Loretta Chase a few days ago, and I was in heaven listening to Ms. Reading read it. She is wonderful. She and Susan Ericksen are my two top favorite narrators. I have other favorites, but no one compares to Susan or Kate in the narrating dept.. They both could read the phone book and I know I would listen.
