How To Search for Upcoming Audiobook Releases

surprisegift175As devoted listeners, we’re always wondering which new audiobooks are just around the corner. Will a favorite author’s next title be a simultaneous release in print and audio? Has a favorite author’s backlist been picked up by an audio publisher? Who will narrate a much anticipated book?

Finding the answers to these questions before an audiobook hits the shelves is a stroke of luck most times as it is notoriously difficult to find this information through most publishers web sites.

Two exceptions to this rule are Tantor Audio – they’ve been generous with their upcoming release news for awhile. And now Audible who is continually improving in this department. So how do you search for upcoming releases at these sites?

Tantor has made it easy by separating their Coming Soon titles by month. You can’t search by genre yet but their monthly lists are easy to scroll through. The lists are updated continually so check back often.

Audible also updates their Coming Soon list regularly and they provide the ability to search by genre. You can find the upcoming romance releases with a little backward maneuvering. The steps I use are seen in the following screen shots.

First click 1. Shop Audible then on 2. Romance.

Then click 1. View All _ Romance Titles

Now choose 1. 50 results per page for fast skimming then 2. Sort by Release Date from the drop down menu. As of today they are showing titles out to December but this isn’t a comprehensive list. It can change daily and does change weekly if only by an added title or two.

  1. Thanks for the link for HarperAudio’s coming soon list. I will be checking it often.

There is also Amazon which I check every now and then. I was checking today and saw the narrator listed for Julie Garwood’s “For the Roses”. It’s a man this time, Mikael Naramore. He has just a few Audible titles, including one recent Sylvia Day book but not any other romances. The sample I listened to sounded promising.

  2. I’m excited to see that some of the books in Tessa Dare’s Spindle Cove are coming to audio in December! Thanks for the link!
