Why I Listen to Romance Audiobooks – Honorable Mentions & Social Media Champs

On Monday, we announced the first, second, and third place winners in our Why I Listen to Romance Audiobooks contest. When choosing the winners, we found it difficult to choose only three and created two further awards categories – Honorable Mentions (self explanatory) and Social Media Champs (those who braved social media and entered on Tantor’s Facebook page or Twitter feed as first requested). Today we are featuring their entries. Tantor Audio graciously agreed to sponsor the additional winners and each receives a Tantor title of their choice.

And for all other entrants…our event is not at an end for you!

We’ll continue this event throughout 2013 and you still have a chance to win a Tantor audiobook. AudioGals will occasionally publish a Why I Listen to Romance Audiobooks submission. If you see your entry, contact the Gals within 48 hours of its publication and you too will receive a Tantor title of your choice. (Although we may use your entry more than once on our site, you are limited to one win.)

AudioGals has been honored to work with Tantor Audio on this Valentine’s Day event. An audiobook publisher who pays attention to what romance listeners have to say, their selection of romance titles is proof of their dedication to the genre.

Our Honorable Mentions

Jackie Izawa

I listen because the trials and hardships in real life are sometimes too much to bear. It’s nice to listen to romance audiobooks because they takes you away from all that negativity. For a few hours, life is perfect, entertaining and, best of all, you always find the person you are meant to be with at the end.

I listen because my workdays can be filled with very tedious tasks. I find that the time flies when I’m caught up in a great story. Romance audiobooks make my days especially bright because I know there will be an HEA to put a smile on my face. And the best part is I don’t have to stop reading during my commute!

Diana Neal

I listen to romance audiobooks over all other types because, for the hours I’m totally engrossed in the story, I can believe that love – passionate, crazy, and sometimes laughable – is possible for a woman to find, even when she’s not looking for it. They give me hope that someday I, too, may experience it.

Why I Listen to Romance Audiobooks:

The illicit naughtiness… of ‘reading’ while I do my job

The throbbing… of my heart when I see that perfect author/narrator pairing

The deeply passionate… listening community

Terry Poindexter

I love listening to romantic audio books because it takes you to foreign places and times past. I commute 25 miles each way and it makes the trips much more bearable. If more people listened to audiobooks of any kind, road rage and impatient incidents would seriously decline.

Gaele Hi

Why I listen to romance audiobooks: I read constantly – 7 or 8 books a week. Audiobooks give me a freedom and the ability to just lie back and relax, have a listen, and let the “word pictures” come to me. It’s a whole other level of “losing myself” in a book. Because, I read romance to be transported and lost in the world of love from another person’s eyes.

‪@TantorAudio #Romance audiobooks mean I can share my love of romance with my husband. He only reads via audio.

  1. I really enjoyed reading these entries! I can identify with each one, except for the commuting part. Since I usually have kids in the car with me, I rarely listen to audiobooks then. BUT, I certainly would if I had a daily commute!

Thanks to everyone for these fun reminders of why romance audiobooks are so great!

  2. Love the ways that you are continuing the contest, Lea. And I love that audiobooks are a potential prophylactic against road rage (is that too much of a stretch for that pun?).

    1. Karen if you knew how many of the entries referred to driving, commutes, road rage, and/or the calming affect audiobooks provide while in a car you’d know that your pun is spot on – loved it. LOL
