Our October 2016 Picks

Here’s our regular look at the month’s new and upcoming releases. Some of these are already available, some are coming later in the month, but in each case we’ve based our choices on our opinions of authors, narrators… and sometimes just gut instinct. What October releases have you enjoyed so far, or are you looking forward to listening to? Stop by and tell us in the comments.

royally-screwedRoyally Screwed by Emma Chase

Narrated by Andi Arndt and Shane East

I’m looking forward to listening to Emma Chase’s latest romance, Royally Screwed, in October.  While I’m not familiar with Shane East, I have enjoyed Andi Arndt’s narrations in the past. – BJ

Emma Chase writes some fantastic heroes. They’re funny and sexy and make me laugh oh-so much. And now she’s topped her previous books by making hero heroes royal! I expect many great (and dirty) things… Hopefully with tiaras. – Diana

honorHonor: The Breaking Point by Jay Crownover

Narrated by Youssif Kamal and Sloane Carson

This is going to be my wildcard this month.  I don’t normally like darker romances but the blurb for this book – as well as the cover – is dark and striking that I’ve been anxious to try it. I’m hoping it’s not more than my poor ears can bear. I’m unfamiliar with the narrators, but since I’m trying something different, I think I’ll be more open to giving them a try. Fingers crossed everything works out. – Diana

I’ve enjoyed Ms. Crownover’s sexy, complicated heroes in the past, and the plot of her latest novel intrigues me. Unfortunately, I’m unfamiliar with both narrators, but I’m hoping for good things. – Shannon

tale-of-two-dragonsA Tale of Two Dragons by G.A. Aiken

Narrated by Hollie Jackson

I’ve heard such good things about how fun this author’s dragon books are. This one’s a novella so a good opportunity to dip my toe in the water. – Kaetrin

the-earlThe Earl by Katherine Ashe

Narrated by Saskia Maarleveld

Katharine Ashe is an author who consistently impresses me, and I’m sure The Earl will be another winner.  Finally, learn the identity of the mysterious Lady Justice, and if the tone of her correspondence with Peregrine, the secretary of the Falcon Club (aka Colin, Viscount Gray) is anything to go by, the sparks are going to fly.  Saskia Maarleveld has proved to be a reliable narrator on the few occasions I’ve listened to her so far, so I am looking forward to an enjoyable listen. – Caz

fantasticalBooks 3-5 of the Fantasyland Series by Kristen Ashley

Narrated by Tillie Hoor for books 3 and 4 and Lauren Fo for book 5

Just in time for Halloween, Audible Studios is releasing audiobook versions of Books 3 through 5 of Kristen  Ashley’s PNR Fantasyland Series. So now’s a great time to catch-up with, or if you haven’t already, start this series. – BJ

the-sexy-oneThe Sexy One by Lauren Blakely

Narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt – I briefly met Simon in Mister O and both he and Abby in Well Hung and just those glimpses were enough to have me ready to one click for this one. Great narrators are a bonus – Blakely is great in audio. – Kaetrin

beautifulBeautiful by Christina Lauren

Narrated by Sebastian York, Grace Grant, Jonathan Cole and Jeremy York

I’m so excited it’s another Lauren book; even if it’s the last title in the series. Thankfully the whole cast makes a return in addition to the love story of Jensen and Pippa so it’s sure to go out in a BIG WAY.- Diana

man-candyMan Candy by Melanie Harlow

Narrated by Lee Samuels and Brooke Bloomingdale

I came across this one when I was browsing through Audible and it looked fun. I checked out samples from other books of both narrators and didn’t nope out immediately so I’m taking a chance on all three. Wish me luck! – Kaetrin

behind-closed-doorsBehind Closed Doors by Lisa Renee Jones

Narrated by Elizabeth Louise

Being a fan of both Lisa Renee Jones erotic romantic suspense titles and Elizabeth Louise’s talented narrations, I’m looking forward to Simon & Schuster’s release of Behind Closed Doors by this talented duo later this month. – BJ

the-soldiers-scoundrelThe Soldier’s Scoundrel by Cat Sebastian

Narrated by Gary Furlong

I absolutely LOVED this impressive début novel from Cat Sebastian so I’m really pleased it’s coming to audio.  I’m not familiar with the narrator, but this is a gorgeously written and developed romance between a couple of brilliantly characterised protagonists combined with a dash of mystery and some insightful social comment – I have high hopes. – Caz

follow-meFollow Me by Tiffany Snow

Narrated by Arielle DeLisle

Tiffany Snow is one of those authors I’ve heard great things about, but never manage to actually read. Follow Me sounds like just the thing to get me hooked. It promises to be full of action with quite a bit of sexual tension mixed in. I’ve enjoyed a few of Arielle DeLisle’s narrations in the past, so this one is definitely on my radar for October.- Shannon

study-in-scarlet-womenA Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas

Narrated by Kate Reading

I admit it – I pretty much squealed with delight when I a) saw this title was coming to audio and b) that Kate Reading is narrating.  Christmas has come early! – Caz

deadly-silenceDeadly Silence by Rebecca Zanetti

Narrated by Karen White

I’m always looking for new romantic suspense novels to lose myself in, and this latest offering from Rebecca Zanetti looks like just the ticket. Plus, Karen White is narrating. It’s bound to be great. – Shannon

  1. I finished Royally Screwed the other day and I have to say it was one of the best Chase books I’ve ever read/listened to! Shane East was phenomenal. :D

    1. Great news Diana! I’m waiting until my library copy finally arrives–but can’t wait to start listening!

  2. Thank you! Can I tell you just how delicious it was to narrate a smart, gluttonous chick like this one? So self aware, such great humour. Oh, that was fun!
And I have to say, I’m so pleased with the sales of the Loretta Chase books – my first foray into royalties has been a blessing to our household. Thanks to all the buyers. I should look for another opportunity – send suggestions if you have them?

    1. I finished listening last week and loved it. It’s certainly refreshing to read a about a heroine who adores cake and knows exactly how many chins she can sustain :)
