Our January 2016 Picks

Well here we are in 2016, with our first set of audiobook Picks. These are the titles we’re most looking forward to listening to in the coming month – sometimes we choose by author, sometimes by narrator and sometimes it’s just a hunch, but whatever the method, we hope there’s something here to tickle your audio fancy! Tell us in the comments what audiobooks you’re dying to download in January.

duke of my heart audioDuke of My Heart by Kelly Bowen

Narrated by Ashford MacNab

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ms Bowen’s recent Dukes of Worth trilogy, in which the author displayed a real talent for constructing an entertaining story and strong characters. I’m looking forward to this new book and with Ashford MacNab narrating, it should be an enjoyable listen. – Caz

Kelly Bowen has been on my radar for a while but I haven’t yet attempted her. However, Ashford McNab is narrating this title; she’s my historical romance (narrator) hero! I WILL be buying Duke of My Heart for her performance alone. – Diana

There’s nothing better than a historical romance that seems like charming fun, and seeing Ashford McNab listed as narrator increases my good feelings about this release. – Shannon

Deadly Peril audioDeadly Peril by Lucinda Brant

Narrated by Alex Wyndham

This, the third in the author’s Alec Halsey series of romantic mysteries is quite possibly the best of the series yet (which is saying something considering how good the other books are!) and with the superb Alex Wyndham once more at the helm, this is guaranteed to be an outstanding listen. – Caz

The third in the Alec Halsey series is being released on audio this month and I can’t wait. It promises to be an intriguing mystery with a little more romance than the previous book (which I enjoyed very much) and with the dulcet tones of Alex Wyndham, it’s a perfect match. – Kaetrin

appealed

Appealed by Emma Chase

Narrated by Deacon Lee

Having thoroughly enjoyed the Legal Series by Emma Chase so far, I’m eagerly anticipating more of Emma Chase’s witty banter in Book 3! – BJ

I really enjoyed Chase’s sense of humor and witty heroes. The first book wasn’t my favorite but the second was thoroughly enjoyable. The character in this book is a lawyer who lost his leg…and not in a war (from what I understand). I have to find out. I’ve tried Lee once before in a dual performance and noted I’d like to see him narrate a book by himself. Here’s hoping this performance is much better that one. – Diana

not quite a lady audioNot Quite a Lady and Last Night’s Scandal by Loretta Chase

Narrated by Kate Reading

I’m thrilled to see the next two in Loretta Chase’s Carsington Family Series out this month with trustworthy Kate Reading narrating. Book #4 Not Quite a Lady and my favorite (between these two) # 5 Last Night’s Scandal. Two sure winners to end a year of wonderful Loretta Chase audio goodness. – Brenda

Loretta Chase and Kate Reading are a marriage made in heaven ;) I’ve loved every single one of their audiobooks, and am eagerly awaiting these new titles, especially Last Night’s Scandal – I can’t wait to meet Olivia and Lisle all grown up! – Caz

This is one of my top author/narrator dream teams – the combination of writing and reading skills makes them auto-buys for me. And it’s been long enough since I read them that it will be like listening to new books for me! (both a curse and a blessing) – Melinda

I fell in love with Olivia and Lisle when I encountered them in Lord Perfect. I can’t wait for their story, especially since Kate Reading is narrating. – Shannon

my american duchess audio

My American Duchess by Eloisa James

Narrated by Kate Reading

An American Duchess – color me Intrigued!  Moreover, when a favorite historical romance writer (Eloisa James) teams up with a favorite historical romance narrator (Kate Reading) the resulting audiobook is a must listen in my TBL. – BJ

The words “narrated by Kate Reading” always catch my attention thus ensuring Eloisa James’ My American Duchess out the end of January will be a hit. :) – Brenda

I confess, Eloisa James has been a bit hit and miss for me over the years, but I’m looking forward to this one because… Kate Reading.  Need I say more? – Caz

the parfit knight audioThe Parfit Knight by Stella Riley

Narrated by Alex Wyndham

Fans of historical romance are in for a real treat this month with the release of The Parfit Knight, the first in a series of Georgian set romances by Stella Riley. Ms Riley is an author I’ve admired for … longer than I care to admit, so I’m ridiculously excited at the prospect of her books coming to audio. And given her narrator of choice is the fabulous Alex Wyndham… I can’t wait :) – Caz

… narrated by Alex Wyndham – Is anyone sensing a theme here? :D The story comes highly recommended but frankly the narrator is enough of a draw that I’m in regardless. – Kaetrin

builtBuilt by Jay Crownover

Narrated by Nicki D. Noir and Jay Crow

Though I’m only familiar with half of the narrator team, I’m eagerly anticipating the debut of Jay Crownover’s new series Saints of Denver! Having been won over by Ms. Crownover’s Marked Men Series, and having been pleased with Jay Crow’s narration in a prior book, I have high expectations for this January release!   – BJ

I love the grittiness of Jay Crownover’s writing. Her characters are flawed, but so incredibly relatable. I’m eager to get lost in this new series. Hopefully, the narrators will deliver a wonderful performance. – Shannon

melody of the heartMelody of the Heart by Katie Ashley

Narrated by Luke Daniels and Justine O. Keef

I’ve not previously read Katie Ashley but the premise of this fourth book in her Runaway Train series caught my attention. To be honest, narrator Luke Daniels’ name caught my attention first (I love his work). He’s paired with another skilled narrator in Justine O. Keef, leaving no doubt audio fans will be pleased. – Brenda

just in timeJust in Time by Rosalind James

Narrated by Claire Bocking

I’ve heard great things about this series and this one caught my eye when I was browsing at Audible. – Kaetrin

lady fortuneLady Fortune by Anne Stuart

Narrated by Christine Rogerson

I was thrilled to see another back list title by Anne Stuart releasing in audio and it’s a Historical this time! Lady Fortune is a title I remember enjoying though it’s been years since I read it . Fingers crossed the new to me narrator Christine Rogerson can capture Anne’s unique style.- Brenda

sin and sufferSin and Suffer by Pepper Winters

Narrated by Kelsi Nesser

I love romances based around revenge. The synopsis intrigues me despite the fact that both the author and the narrator are unknown to me. – Shannon

  1. I’m really excited to see Stella Riley’s A Parfit Knight coming up in audiobook. And narrated by Alex Wyndham no less! Will it be at Audible? I look there and don’t see it listed.

It goes with out saying about the Loretta Chase and Lucinda Brant releases…

    1. I’m really looking forward to The Part Knight, too :). And the good news is that the other two books in the series are being recorded as well.

And yes, PK will be available at Audible, it’s just that it’s not yet available for pre-order.
