A Sound Clip from Nora Roberts’ THE LIAR – releasing today!

A number of us around AudioGals get a little excited when it comes time for Nora Roberts’ annual Romantic Suspense (RS) release. Rather than one in a continuing series, these titles are stand-alones – something I especially appreciate as I tend to tire of series. The Liar releases today and, with a length of 16 hours and 37 minutes, it’s more than your usual investment of time for an audiobook but that length is another characteristic of Roberts’ annual RS titles.

We wanted to make all of this a little more fun and heighten our anticipation to see what Roberts has in store for us this year and requested a sound clip from Brilliance to run today – and they graciously provided one. January LaVoy narrates and, although she is a new-to-me narrator, I’m feeling good vibes after listening to the clip.

Kaetrin will be reviewing The Liar for us soon – very soon. So watch for her review and please let us know your thoughts!

  1. I’m really looking forward to this book. The narrator is good, and the plot intriguing. Plus, it’s been awhile since I’ve done a Roberts stand alone.

  2. I haven’t read or listened to many Nora Roberts titles in my twelve years of reading romance (less than ten). BUT at least a half dozen of those are these annual RS releases. They are nearly always worth the investment.

  3. This was a DNF despite LaVoy’s narrating skills. I loved her performance of Callie, the heroine’s 3 year old daughter. Everything else after the first 2 hours put me to sleep and that was a blessing. Otherwise I was getting antsy and irritated by the rambling. This is the downside of audios – I can’t skim as I can with a print book.

    1. Oh no!! We haven’t been having good luck with these since Julia Whelan narrated The Witness in 2012. The Liar is up for me this weekend – I think.

      1. But Lea, you DNF’d The Collector, which I enjoyed (also narrated by Julia Whelan), so it might end up the reverse for you here:) You might love this which I DNF’d this time.

I’m keen to read Audiogals’ review, anyway.

          1. I never listened to THE COLLECTOR or WHISKEY BEACH, both were DNF’s for me in print, but THE WITNESS was one of the best La Nora’s I have read/listened to in YEARS!

Seeing that DNF from ElaineY is not want I wanted to hear!!

Pssssss…..that is my hopeful balloon deflating…..I wasn’t paying attention and just assumed Julia Whelan or Susan Ericksen were narrating. :(

  4. Mel,
I thought the narrator, January LaVoy, was very good. The book is boring to me, that’s all. Thankfully, this is so subjective that it’s always worth giving it a try if you can borrow one. I’ve been wanting to relisten to The Witness (it was just a 3-star book for me) to see if I’ll like it better the second time around but I enjoyed The Collector so much I will likely relisten to that first.

Off-topic, but…I can’t wait for the next Sandra Brown – Friction.
