Merry Christmas, Baby by Jill Shalvis (short story)

merry christmas babyNarrated by Angela Starling

Merry Christmas, Baby is a teeny little Lucky Harbor short story, starring Chloe and Sawyer from book 3, Head Over Heels. It’s just the thing for listening while running your Christmas shopping errands as it comes in at about 90 minutes – a sort of sweet gumdrop listen, especially good as a way to use part of your $10 Audible credit if you were lucky enough to snag one!

Chloe and Sawyer are expecting – hence the title – but it wasn’t planned. Sawyer is taking a lot of out-of-town DEA jobs right now, and Chloe is convinced it’s because pregnancy has made her unbearable. But if he’s going out of town, she’s going out on the town – in spite of her doctor’s warning to take it easy! She is still the party girl, even if she is the size of a VW bug (her description, not mine!), and she won’t miss the town Christmas celebration, even if she has to make the outfit herself.

Shalvis writes warm, funny and sexy well and she manages to cram it all into this tiny jewel. Angela Starling does a decent job of bringing it to life. She has a young voice that fits the characters, and she has developed a convincing male range for the various men in the book – yes, we get to revisit Jax and Ford as well. OK, I have to say: audiobook narrators, please learn how to pronounce MISCHIEVOUS, noting that it is only three syllables and does not rhyme with DEVIOUS. Other than that mispronunciation, the narration is good. Lucky Harbor fans will enjoy revisiting the original characters in this fun short story.

  1. Hi – there are 3 different accepted pronunciations for Mischievous. Americans have a totally different pronunciation from the other English accents.
