Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels – It’s Here! GIVEAWAY (closed)

Lord of ScoundrelsAfter being at the top of many a romance listener’s wishlist , Lord of Scoundrels has finally been released in audio format and we have Blackstone Audio to thank for not only making that possible but wisely choosing narrator Kate Reading as well.

To celebrate, we’re giving away ten downloadable copies of Lord of Scoundrels courtesy of Blackstone Audio. You can find the details of the giveaway and the entry form at the bottom of the page.

When it comes to romance audio, you likely know Kate Reading from her outstanding performance of Lauren Willig’s Pink Carnation series or Christine Warren’s The Others series. She’s earned two A grades here at AudioGals – Lauren Willig’s The Passion of the Purple Plumeria and Christine Warren’s She’s No Faerie Princess and one B+ – Ann Augirre’s Perdition.

Although Lord of Scoundrels hit Audible just nine days ago, it already has 43 ratings averaging 4.9 stars (out of 5.0). Winning the number one slot since 2000 on AAR’s Top 100 list, it’s obviously a huge favorite of romance fans.

I was curious to know what influenced Blackstone’s choice of  Lord of Scoundrels and wondered if they would choose more Chase titles for audio publication in the future. Talking with Blackstone editor Haila Williams, she had this to say (and for the multitude of Lord of Scoundrels fans out there, I know you will enjoy her response):

I was visiting the Nancy Yost Agency and chatting with Nancy and Adrienne Rosado and I asked about any backlist treasures that never made it to audio, and they both said that Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels was one of the best books ever written in the genre. They explained that this title has repeatedly shown up on “Top 10” lists through the years and would appeal to fans of the genre and anyone who appreciated good writing. And oh! It’s also very funny in places. So how could I resist?

I think we have the best possible narrator in Kate Reading. We are looking forward to seeing how fans react to the audio. And yes, we will pursue future titles from Loretta Chase.

It’s obvious that fans are reacting with excitement and appreciation for Blackstone’s audio version. I’m just one chapter from completing my listen and it easily rates an A+ for both the content and narration.

We’ll be publishing Kaetrin’s review of Lord of Scoundrels on Tuesday – the last day to enter our giveaway. And if you are looking for the hard copy version, it is scheduled for release February 15th.

Now for a taste of Kate Reading’s performance…

  1. This audiobook is perfection, pure and simple. I am one of the readers who gave it a 5 stars rating at Audible. I went and bought it the minute I found out it was available. I didn’t even wait for my monthly credits to arrive. I really hope the people at Blackstone Audio release other titles by Loretta Chase with the same narrator, I’m hoping for Mr. Impossible next. Thank you Lea for sharing such wonderful news!

    1. I purchased as soon as I saw it too! Mr. Impossible is the one that comes to mind as the next “must” on the Chase backlist. Although I can easily think of a half dozen I’d purchase if the likes of Kate Reading narrates.

  2. I love Loretta Chase. If Blackstone recorded her back list I would buy them…….immediately upon release!

I can’t tell you how happy I am about Lord of Scoundrels. So very thankful they chose Kate Reading. So many regency historicals are narrated by two very popular readers that I can’t listen too without falling asleep or becoming nauseated. So this is great news.

    Off to Audible…….

  3. Now that I have finished listening to Lord of Scoundrels, I have a sense that anything else I start in the next few days will seem lacking by comparison. So, it’s a day of music for me. Hopefully this feeling will pass soon as I have a number of audiobooks I’ve been looking forward to. Maybe a non-romance will break the spell.

    1. Have you read the UF Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch? The audios are spectacular!
Midnight Riot is the first book.

      1. I just listened to a sample of several books in this series. Impressive! Although I’m not much of a fan of urban fantasy, this is tempting.

  4. The same here. The withdrawal syndrome is the downside of listening to these amazing books. After listening to Flowers From the Storm nothing could hold my attention.

  5. Thanks for all the samples (and the giveaway! I hate how most audiobooks samples preview the first 5 minutes which usually include only one character’s voice. I don’t like buying audiobooks if I can’t hear the male and female voices.

    1. That’s what we think too so we’re offering hero-heroine interaction whenever we post samples. Glad you find them useful!

  6. It’s gloomy and cold and damp here today….and this made me smile in delicious delight. Kate Reading is an outstanding narrator, able to create voices that perfectly fit the characters both male and female equally. I am thrilled to look forward to hearing all of this recording, especially so because it is Loretta Chase and that says it all.

  7. I’m listening to podcasts today before I dive back into an audiobook. Anything else will pale in comparison to LoS right now.

  8. Thanks for the contest. It would have been nice if you had posted the names of the winners. That way those of us who didn’t win could go ahead and purchase the audiobook.

    1. We wish we could post the winners immediately but it’s not possible as each winner must verify their win. Sometimes that takes days as is the case with our Chase giveaway. If a winner does not verify within 24 hours, we choose another and they too have 24 hours. We still have one credit floating out there waiting to be claimed on the third go round.

  9. Looks like I really messed up the wording on my last response. That’s what I get for trying to post from my phone. Edited now.
