Saturday Update – Feasting on New or Upcoming Romance Titles

Saturday Update – As I checked in with AudioGals last night, I suddenly realized I had left out a title I’ve been waiting for close to a year now! See below for Jeaniene Frost’s Twice Tempted.

At times in the world of romance audiobooks, it seems like feast or famine. One month, I’m exploring older audio titles attempting to locate a quality listen since none of the more recent releases appeal to me. And then there are times for feasting as I see audiobooks I know I will love on Coming Soon or Recently Released lists. Right now I’m feasting.

Twice Tempted

Jeaniene Frost’s Twice Tempted

The second in Frost’s Night Prince series, Twice Tempted is narrated by the oh-so-talented Tavia Gilbert. It’s a continuation of Vlad and Leila’s story. Although the Night Prince series is connected to the Night Huntress series (Bones and Cat), I believe you can start with Book 1, Once Burned, without feeling lost. Harper Audio has scheduled Twice Tempted for release on March 26th and I can hardly wait!

The Leopard Prince

Elizabeth Hoyt’s The Princes Trilogy

Released just this month by Hachette Audio, I’m loving listening to this set of highly popular print titles. I’ve listened to The Raven Prince. I’m currently listening to The Leopard Prince (my fave in print) and I’ll be starting on The Serpent Prince soon. You know when you discover an audiobook is even better than the print version? That’s the case with The Prince Trilogy. New-to-me narrator (and new to narrating as well), Moira Quirk, is simply fantastic. In print, I tried three times to finish The Raven Prince – never making it to the end. In audio, I still found the premise more than a little far-fetched but I breezed through the audio enjoying Ms. Quirk’s interpretation of the story and winning performance.

The Best Man

Kristan Higgins’ The Best Man

I’m a huge fan of Kristan Higgins’ work. Romance that borders on women’s fiction, it is the perfect fit for me with laugh-out-loud moments, heartwarming scenes, and heroines who think like we do. Released just this week by Tantor Audio, Amy Rubinate narrates and I’m completely excited about this one.

It Must Be Love 175

Rachel Gibson’s It Must Be Love

Along with Kristan Higgins, Rachel Gibson is another one of my best-loved contemporary romance authors. Her first book, It Must Be Love, is scheduled for release by Harper Audio March 12th. It isn’t my favorite of her works but it’s still classic Gibson and I can’t help but rejoice knowing her backlist is now being picked up (in part or in whole still unknown) in audio which leads me to…

Two more Rachel Gibson titles! Harper Audio has scheduled Simply Irresistible for release on April 2nd and Truly Madly Yours for April 30th. Rachel Gibson’s backlist has been on the Gals’ Wishlist since its inception.

Love Irresistibly

And yet another of my beloved contemporary romance authors has a release in April. Julie James’ Love Irresistibly is scheduled for the 2nd. Released by Tantor Audio and narrated by the awesome Karen White, I know I have a truly great time waiting for me!

Material Girl

And it’s contemporary heaven for me as Brilliance releases another one of my old favorites on May 21st. Julia London’s Material Girl – the first in the Lear Family Trilogy. Now I’m hoping it will be followed by Beauty Queen and Miss Fortune, the second and third entries in the series.

      1. Same here – anymore, I usually only read it first if the print book is released first and I just can’t wait. Very excited about another JJ/KW pairing in my favorite genre!

  1. sooo excited with Rachel Gibson’s It Must Be Love …still look for any update on Judith McNaught…

    1. Me too on Judith McNaught! I notice that Random House has her only unabridged title, Every Breath You Take. Wonder if they could check further??

      1. This is where audiobook publishers are missing a bet – I think McNaught has a bigger following than they realize, and publishing her backlist would be such a great addition. A much better use of audiobook resources than some of the cr- , er, older titles that have come out in the past year. But she’s not producing bestsellers right now, so they don’t have her on their radar, that’s my theory anyway.

        1. If many of use write to Audible requesting Judith McNaught’s books in audio, they will surely contact the publisher, and then the publisher will be aware of the public’s interest in her books. I’ve never had any luck writing to the publishers directly, but Audible says they check into every request that they receive.

  2. Along with Twice Tempted coming out on 3/26, J.R. Wards’ long awaited Lover At Last is also due out the same day for those of us who have followed the series even though it is more urban fantasy than romance since her story about Phury.

    1. Kelley – I came close to including the Ward. I continue to follow the series despite its strong shift to urban fantasy. However, I have yet to listen to last year’s entry. LOVER REBORN – I keep waiting for that time when it can have my full concentration and have passed it by too many times although it has been on my iPod all this time. Please let us know what you think of LOVER AT LAST!
